Abstract
A glass comprises, in per cent by weight: SiO12 46-48; B2O3, 11-12; Li2O, 2-3; Na2O, 8-9; NaF, 1.5-2; K2O, 0.8-1.2; KF, 3-4; BaO, 7-9; CaO, 1-2; ZnO, 12-13; Al2O3, 2-3; the balance, if any, consisting of compatible impurity. The glass has Tg=435 DEG C. and #c=1.01x10-5/ DEG C. (20-300 DEG C.). An article may be lined with the glass. Luminescent material may be embedded in the glass; thus a fluorescent tube may be made by pulverizing the glass, suspending it in a volatile liquid, adding luminescent material, applying to the internal surface of a tube, e.g. by dipping or centrifuging, and stoving at 580-600 DEG C.
