Abstract

1,013,416. Casting composite articles. H. F. C. IRWIN. Aug. 12, 1964 [Aug. 14, 1963], No. 32786/64. Heading B3F. [Also in Division B5] Means for injection moulding or die casting hinges comprises complementary die portions 10, 11 (Figs. 1, 2) defining a cavity provided with a dividing web 13 which co-operates with an inserted hinge pin to divide the cavity into two main portions 14, 15, one for each of the hinge halves. Transverse portions 18 of the web 13 have recesses 19 to receive the hinge pin. In a modification (Fig. 8) the hinge is moulded in a partly closed condition between a male mould portion 53 and two separable female portions 44, 45. Figs. 3 to 5 (not shown) show means for assembling hinge pin components 35, 37 which are mounted in the mould before injection of material through a conduit 60. The hinge pin assembly may form part of an electromagnetic circuit which holds it in place during injection. 62 are ejecting pins.
