Abstract

1,013,271. Accelerometers. HONEYWELL Inc. May 30, 1962. No. 20872/62. Addition to 889,385. Heading G1K. An accelerometer comprises a rotatable gimbal 10, eccentrically weighted by means of bores 14 to rotate about its axis in response to acceleration along the direction ASA, a liquid contained in the generally annular space 41 between the gimbal 10 and the outer housing 11 being driven by the relative motion of vanes 15, 16 on the gimbal and vanes 25, 26 on the housing interior through the narrow gaps 45, 46 to provide damping. The rotary movement of the gimbal is sensed by a pick-up 20 to give an electric output signal.
