Abstract

1,012,720. Mine roof supports; tunnels; goaf stowage. BERGBAUSTAHL G M B H & Co. Aug. 21, 1962 [Aug. 25, 1961], No. 32055/62. Headings E1E and E1F. A system for progressively supporting a mine road 1 (Figs. 1 and 2) at its junction with a continuously advancing coal face 3 comprises multi-section supporting arches 4 securable at their side portions nearer the coal face 3 to a longitudinally-advanceable beam 7 by clamping members 13 (Fig. 3) each provided with a socket 15 to receive the head 17 of an auxiliary 17 which, in position, permits a section 4<SP>11</SP> of the arch 4 to be removed for passage of a conveyer 18. The beam 7 comprises sections 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP>, 7<SP>111</SP> detachably interconnected at their ends. The removed section(s) 4<SP>111</SP> can be reerected on the side of the conveyer 18 nearer the goaf 41.
