Abstract
1,012,450. Gunnery training device. NORDISKA ARMATURFABRIKERNA A.B. Dec. 5, 1962 [Dec. 5, 1961], No. 45980/62. Heading F3C. Gunnery training apparatus comprises a case 2 having two pivoting light sources 16, 18 directing light beams towards screens 12, 13, beam 16 and screen 13 representing a moving target and beam 18 and screen 12 representing the proper aiming point. On the other side of the screen is a well-known sighting device having aiming means as on an actual gun and a lamp 32 on a ring 31 directing a beam of light towards screen 12. The lamp can be switched by the instructor to check the accuracy of aiming. The light sources 16, 18 are moved by arms 53, 54 respectively engaging pins 46 or 47 and lug 48 on saddle member 45 detachably fixed on block 43 moved by motor (37) driven shaft 42. The arm 53 co-operating with either pin 47 or pin 46 depending on the position of spring 55 fastened to the arm 53 and an arm 55. With the arm 55 as shown in Fig. 2, the arm 5 is forced upwardly to react with pin 46 to cause the light beam to rise along slot 17 as the block 43 moves away from the screen. When the arm 53 is forced downwardly it co-operates with pin 47 to move the beam over slot 15 to produce a bead point movement, i.e. a movement relative to a fixed point showing how the distance between the aiming point and target varies as the target approaches. The saddle 45 and screens 12, 13 can be changed to simulate different conditions such as change of altitude &c. The target can be tilted to simulate angled approach and the lamp 32 can be moved round the ring 31 for realignment with the target. For a tilted target a different bead point screen (Fig. 6, not shown), can be used, having curved slots corresponding to particular angles of approach.
