Abstract

1,012,072. Filling plastics containers. BOWATER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Oct. 14, 1964 [Oct. 16, 1963], No. 40851/63. Heading B8C. A device for filling plastics containers having a thermoplastic filling tube with liquids comprises a nozzle 3 over which the tube is fitted and clamped in position and heat-sealing jaws 20 located to be between the container and tube for sealing after filling, an ejector 6 then removing the tube from the nozzle. Clamping is performed by radially slidable members 10 moved by a hand-operated disc having arcuate slots (Fig. 3, not shown) guiding pins 13 attached to the members. The ejector 6 is movable axially of the nozzle by a hand lever. The sealing jaws are shaped to produce a line of weakness in the seal so that the part of the filling tube above it may be broken off. Liquid is supplied in measured quantities by pump and automatically recirculated when flow is shut off (not detailed).
