1,011,739. R.F. couplings. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. Aug. 31, 1962 [Aug. 8, 1961], No. 33469/62. Heading H4A. An arrangement for feeding loads RV2, RV3, Fig. 1 (e.g. aerials) from a H.F. source G comprises a ring 1, 2 . . . 6 of transmission line sections (e.g. coaxial cables) each an integral odd number of quarter-wavelengths long at the central operating frequency, the loads being connected to points 2, 3 and balancing resistors being connected to points 4, 5. If Z 0 is the centre-frequency load impedance the characteristic impedances of the ring sections are as indicated, where b>q and are chosen to give load voltages substantially equal to that across source G in amplitude and phase. In one arrangement b = 1, i.e. RLA4 and RLA5 each equal Z 0 . A mathematical discussion and graphical treatment are given, Fig. 2 (not shown). For operation over a relatively wide band, e.g. Œ9%, such that the load voltages are substantially equal to that across the generator, the arrangement shown in Fig. 3 is utilized, additional sections 7-2, 8-3 each of characteristic impedance KZ 0 and of one-half wave in length being added, Figs. 4, 5, 6 (not shown).
