Abstract

1,011,523. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. WESTON HYDRAULICS Ltd. July 30, 1962, No. 29221/62. Heading G3P. [Also in Division H1] In a hydraulic servo valve used for operating a double acting piston 57, high pressure fluid is applied to ports 5, 6 and low pressure fluid to ports 7, 8 the flow of the former being controlled by the double shuttle valve 42, 43, and the latter is supplied to pressure nozzles 17, 21 where the flow is controlled by flapper valve 26 which is an extension of the electromagnet armature (see Division H2). In operation flap 26 moves towards nozzle 21 and away from nozzle 17, say, when the coil is energized, thus lowering the pressure in chamber 13 and increasing it in chamber 14, the shuttle thus moves to the left and opens port 58 to the high pressure oil and port 56 to exhaust through passage 61 to port 25. By using constant compression type springs between the individual shuttles 42, 43 and the flap armature a mechanical feedback is obtained to give an accurate control.
