Abstract

1,010,401. Turbines; gas turbine plant. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Feb. 28, 1964 [March 7, 1963], No. 8463/64. Headings FIG and FIT. Means for locating centrally the housing 13 of a turbine-shaft bearing 12 within an outer housing 25 comprises tie rods 24 extending obliquely (i.e. not radially) outwards from the bearing housing, the housing 13 being secured by axially and radially resilient members 14 and 15 to an annulus 16<SP>1</SP> which forms an extension of but is separated from the remainder of the inner wall 16 of the working fluid flow channel 17, the annulus being braced to the outer wall 21 of the channel by streamlined, hollow stays 22 which frictionally engage the outer wall to provide a damping effect for the oscillations produced by the rotor. The outer wall 21 is centred within the housing 25 by means of dogs 28.
