Abstract

1,009,641. Sifting apparatus. SOUTHWESTERN ENGINEERING CO. Aug. 21, 1964 [Oct. 31, 1963], No. 34400/64. Heading B2H. Material is separated on a vibratory screen 11 mounted in a cylindrical shell structure 8, 9, the oversize particles discharging through a duct in the shell 9 above the screen while the undersize particles passing through the screen are discharged down a pan 13 which slopes downwardly and diametrically from a position adjacent the screen to a discharge duct 12 on the opposite side. The shells 8, 9 are mounted on springs 2 and the material to be separated is poured centrally on to the screen and caused to progress across the screen in spiral fashion by eccentric weights 7 driven by a motor 6. The eccentric weights may be adjusted circumferentially to control the rate of travel of material over the screen which is tensioned by a central bolt 14 so that it assumes a shallow conical shape.
