[Also in Divisions B4, B5 and B6] Ink ribbons 4 of thermofusible synthetic fabric such as a superpolyamide are obtained by cutting the ribbons from the said fabric drawn from a roll 1 by heating wires 3, which cause the edges of the ribbons to melt to provide a false selvedge and the ink ribbons are wound on a cylinder 2, which is driven to provide the tractive force for the cutting operation of the wires 3. The ribbons are cut from a roll which has previously been inked, the physical and chemical properties of the ink coating being modified along the selvedge as a result of the heat application.
