Abstract

Heat transfer fluids and anti-freezes contain as corrosion inhibitor the condensation products of aminoalkyl silicates and oxirane compounds such as those disclosed in Specification 948,133. The major component may be water, an alcohol or a glycol (many examples) and other corrosion inhibitors such as borates, nitrites, phosphates and organic compounds (many examples) may also be present. Cleaning compositions.-An aqueous cleansing composition suitable for removing oil-bound rust from cooling systems, e.g. of automobiles, comprises an alkaline-reacting salt such as sodium carbonate or trisodium phosphate plus a condensation product of an aminoalkyl silicate and an oxirane compound (e.g. as in Specification 948,133) as corrosion inhibitor.
