Abstract

1,007,715. Reamers. PRODUCTION ENGINEERING RESEARCH ASSOCIATION OF GREAT BRITAIN, A. I. W. MOORE, and J. H. PORTER. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 4, 1961; May 23, 1962], No. 28490/61. Heading B3C. A reamer has teeth, each having a circular land 11, a secondary clearance surface 12, an axial rake face 15, an additional clearance surface 13, and a bevel lead 29. The cutting edge 14 commences at point 18, and terminates at point 30, which may be at the junction of edges 31, 15. The reamer may have straight flutes, left-hand or right-hand helical flutes, the helix angle being 10 degrees maximum, and the axial rake angle may range from 10 degrees-60 degrees. The reamer may be steam treated to prevent the work material from adhering to the lands, and may have teeth unequally spaced.
