Abstract

100,768. Maxfield, J. April 3, 1916. Pianoforte tuning- pins and pin-plates; strings, arrangement of. - The tuning- pins are mounted in metal bosses on an iron plate forming part of the frame. As shown in Fig. 2, the boss 9 is riveted to the plate 1 and has three tapped holes for the tuning- pins 12, and passages 15 fnr the strings, which are looped about three studs 17; grooved plugs 13 are inserted between the strings and the pins 12. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, a single screw 16 is provided for preliminary adjustment and is locked by a set-screw 18. The strings may be arranged in single or double lengths with the bosses shown in Fig. 4, or in triple lengths in the form shown in Fig. 2.
