Abstract

In a method of producing false-twist, torque-stretch yarn, a heat-settable yarn is passed through a false-twist spindle (comprising an upright spindle blade having a drilled axial bore extending from end to end) which is rotated at a speed in excess of 300,000 revolutions per minute, a frictional drag of less than 30 grams is imposed on the yarn e.g. by wrapping it around a twist-stopping device in the form of a pin of hard, wear-resistant, aluminium oxide, and the surrounding atmosphere is maintained at above 40% relative humidity.
