Abstract

1,3,3,5 - tetramethyl 1 -,1,5,5 - tetraphenyltrisiloxane is prepared by reacting methyldiphenylsilane, in the presence of methanol, with sodium hydroxide, in dilute toluene solution to give sodium methyl diphenyl silanolate which, after the removal of water and methanol by azeotropic distillation, is then reacted with dimethyl-dichlorosilane. The methyldiphenylsilane may be prepared by reacting methyldichlorosilane with phenyl magnesium bromide in ethereal solution. Specification 787,800 is referred to.
