Abstract

1,006,555. Electric air heaters. VAPOR CORPORATION. March 18, 1964 [May 17, 1963], No. 11375/64. Heading H5H. [Also in Division G3] A device for heating fluids, particularly gases being supplied to living spaces, e.g. an air circulating system, comprises a housing 11 formed by two cup-shaped metal portions 16, 17 joined at their peripheral overlapping flanges 23, 40 by bolts 41 and having inlet and outlet bores 30, 21, alternative normally-plugged bores 31, 22 being provided. The portion 17 has three rod-like projections 38 on which are mounted a conventional tubular electrical resistance heater 65 and a tube 67 which has an internal reflecting surface and is spaced from the housing 11 by sealing rings 43, 45 so that the fluid is forced to flow through the space between members 65, 67. The fluid temperature at the outlet is automatically regulated by a control circuit (see Division G3) including a two-bulb mercury thermostat carried by a mounting arrangement 13, and a controller 14 housing the various circuit components, e.g. adjustable potentiometer 96, indicating lamp 115 and relay for energizing the heater 65. The connection to the latter is taken through a mounting arrangement 33 to a terminal 36. Members 16, 17 may be mounted at various relative angular positions and mounting brackets 50, 60 for the housings 11, 88 respectively may be similarly adjusted, Fig. 5 (not shown).
