Abstract

1,006,472. Brushes. CHELTON (ELECTROSTATICS) Ltd., and H. R. SMITH. July 9, 1964 [July 16, 1963], No. 28169/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading A4K. [Also in Division B4] A bundle of glass fibres, secured together by a bonding material to form a rod, have the material removed from one end to form a brush head. Preferably, the bonding material is a curable resin which is burnt off (and may support combustion) to expose the desired length of bristle. The rod may be formed by coating the fibres with a polyester resin and drawing a bundle of coated fibres through a tube of the required cross-sectional shape. Alternatively, nylon is extruded around the fibres. The form of the brush tip may be varied by grinding the end of the road to the desired shape prior to removing the bonding material. The brush may be cleaned by burning off hardened paint or other material.
