Abstract

Dibenzo-[b, e]-oxepin derivatives of the formula <FORM:1004683/C2/1> wherein n is 1 or 2 and A is a dialkylamino radical, and acid-addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting an o,o1-dihalo-phenylbenzyl ether of the formula <FORM:1004683/C2/2> in which Hal is a chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, in a solvent, e.g. ether or tetrahydrofuran, with magnesium or lithium at boiling temperature, or with an alkyl lithium at a temperature of - 20 DEG to + 30 DEG C. and then heating the reaction mixture to boiling, to give the corresponding organometallic compound of the formula <FORM:1004683/C2/3> reacting this at a temperature of - 50 DEG to + 100 DEG C. with an ester of the formula A-CH2-CH2-COOR in which R is an alkyl radical, heating the reaction mixture to boiling point, hydrolysing the reaction product and treating the hydrolysis product of the formula <FORM:1004683/C2/4> with a water-splitting agent. o,o1 - Dibromophenyl - benzyl ether is prepared by reacting o-bromophenol with o-bromobenzyl bromide.
