Abstract

1,004,682. Measuring angular speed electrically. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. June 4, 1962 [June 21, 1961], No.21032/65. Divided out of 1,004,681. Heading G1N. Apparatus for measuring the angular speed of a shaft 16 (Figs. 1, 2) comprises a disc 15 rotating with the shaft in the field of a stationary magnet 12, whereby eddy currents are induced in the disc, producing secondary magnetic fields # Q1 and # Q 2 in saturable magnetic circuits provided by iron bodies 18, 22, thereby altering their permeabilities and inductances by an amount which is a measure of the angular speed of the shaft. The magnet 12 may be a permanent magnet or an electromagnet energized by windings 13, 14.
