Abstract
1,004,293. Contact-members for switches. W. HOLZER. June 14, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 22912/62. Heading H2B. A contact member stamped from resilient material has a connector portion 8 and a contact making portion 9, connected by an intermediate portion 11 and a connecting piece 12 which has been twisted through 90 degrees relative thereto to make portion 11 resilient, the contact member being held edgewise between plates 1, 2 having apertures 3, 4, and retained by projections 7. A rotating cam 19 actuates the contact member in the direction in which piece 12 is most springy. The end 9 of the contact member carrying the contact 10 is effectively twisted through 90 degrees relative to portion 11, Figs 1, 2, or may be actually twisted through 90 degrees (Fig. 3, not shown). The stamping may be formed by portions which are alternately twisted 90 degrees to one another and the 90 degrees twisted portions may have a reduced cross-sectional area formed by forging or stamping. The resilient portion 11 may be formed by two adjoining connecting pieces 12 which are twisted through 45 degrees to one another and to the respectively adjoining conector portion 8 and contact-making portion 9. An assembly of juxtaposed contact members has the 90 degrees twisted portions offset from one another in staggered relationship, while intermediate walls separate the contact members at the connecting-pieces 12. The contact member may be pre-tensioned to lie against the plate 2 (Fig. 2, not shown).
