Abstract
Potassium salt of N - [a - (o - cetyloxyphenyl)-ethyl] - 1 - hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - 2 - napththamide is prepared by refluxing in alkali cetyl bromide and o-hydroxyacetophenone to produce o-cetyloxyacetophenone. This is reacted with hydroxylamine to produce the oxime which is reduced to a - (o - cetyloxyphenyl) - ethylamine with hydrogen and Raney nickel. The amine is then reacted with 1-hydroxy-4-fluorosulphonyl 2-naphthoyl chloride to give N-[a -(o-cetyloxy phenyl) - ethyl] - 1 hydroxy - 4 - fluorosulphonyl-2 - naphthamide which on refluxing with caustic potash gives the potassium salt. Potassium salt of N - [a - (p - cetyloxyphenyl)-ethyl] - 1 - hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - 2 - naphthamide is prepared as above starting with p-hydroxyacetophenone. Potassium salt of - N - [a - (p - cetyloxyphenyl) - benzyl] - 1 - hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - 2-naphthamide is prepare das above using p-hydroxy benzophenone. Potassium salt of - N - [a or b - (b or a -cetyloxy - naphthyl - methyl) - 1 - hydroxy - 4-sulpho - 2 - naphthamide is prepared as above using 2- or 1-naphthol-1 or 2-aldehyde. Potassium salt of N - [a - (p - palmitoylamino-phenyl) - ethyl] - 1 - hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - 2-naphthamide is prepared by starting with p-aminoacetophenone and palmitoyl chloride. Potassium salt of N-[a (p-cetylsulphonylamino-phenyl) - ethyl] - 1 - hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - 2-naphthamide is prepared by starting with p-aminoacetophenone and cetylsulphonyl chloride.
