Abstract

Detergent compositions particularly for use on rugs and upholstery comprises (a) a compound of formula RO.SO3M where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, preferably of 10-18 carbon atoms, and M is an alkali metal, (b) a compound of formula R1CO.N(CH3)CH2COOA, where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group, preferably of 12-18 carbon atoms, and A is hydrogen or an alkali metal, and (c) water. A preferred composition comprises by weight 20% of a 46% active sodium lauryl sulphate, 10% of a 30% active sodium N-laurcyl sarcosinate and 70% soft water.
