Abstract

A printing ink comprises, as pigment, the dye having the formula <FORM:1004076/C4-C5/1> together with hydrated alumina and linseed oil varnish. (The dye is described in Specification 326,487.)ALSO:Pigmented materials and mixtures contain as a pigment the dye having the formula <FORM:1004076/C3/1> (This dye is described in Specification 326,487.) The material which is pigmented may comprise a natural or synthetic resin, e.g. polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyacrylonitrile, polyethylene terephthalate, polyurethane, rubber cellulose and cellulose acetate. Examples describe the preparation of pigmented polystyrene (and copolymers of styrene with acrylonitrile and butadiene), polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride, the latter also having incorporated therein diisooctyl phthalate and titanium dioxide; a composition for priming wood comprising the dye and a copolymer of styrene and an unsaturated polyester resin together with cobalt naphthenate and silicone oil solutions, the copolymer being obtained by polymerizing in the presence of cyclohexanone peroxide; a lacquer containing the dye in a stoving enamel comprising a urea-formaldehyde resin; and a printing ink comprising the dye in a solution consisting of low viscosity, alcohol-soluble nitrocellulose, dibutylphthalate, ethyl alcohol and ethylene glycol.
