Abstract

Compositions used in making pressure-sensitive, ink-releasing sheets and ribbons, e.g. typewriter ribbons (see Division D2), comprise: (Example I) vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, lanolin, carbon black, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate; (Example III) a first coating of anchoring composition comprising vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, methyl ethyl ketone and dioctyl phthalate, and a coating of ink-releasing composition comprising vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, methyl methacrylate-ethyl acrylate copolymer, polystyrene, ultramarine, alkali blue, castor oil, oleic acid, dioctyl phthalate, toluene and methyl ethyl ketone; (Example V) an anchoring composition of an acqueous dispersion of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile and itaconic acid and an ink-releasing layer of polyvinyl butyral, lanolin, mineral oil, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate; and (Example VI) polyvinyl acetate, lanolin, mineral oil, carbon black, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate. Specifications 851,875 and 890,004 are referred to.ALSO:Pressure-sensitive, ink-releasing sheets and ribbons, e.g typewriter ribbons, comprise an asymmetrically oriented polymeric linear terephthalate ester base film having a transfer composition adhering to one side. In the examples, asymmetrically oriented films of polyethylene terephthalate are coated with: (Example I) vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, lanolin, carbon black, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate; (Example III) a first coating of anchoring composition comprising vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, methyl ethyl ketone and dioctyl phthalate followed by a coating of ink-releasing composition comprising vinyl chloride-acetate copolymer, methyl methacrylate-ethyl acrylate copolymer, polystyrene, ultramarine, alkali blue, castor oil, oleic acid, dioctyl phthalate, toluene and methyl ethyl ketone; (Example V) an anchoring composition of an aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile and itaconic acid and an ink-releasing layer of polyvinyl butyral, lanolin, mineral oil, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate; and (Example VI) polyvinyl acetate, lanolin, mineral oil, carbon black, alkali blue, toluene and ethyl acetate.
