Abstract
1,003,177. Testing eggs. BARKER AUTOMATION Inc. April 25, 1962, No. 15800/62. Heading A1M. Apparatus for testing eggs comprises an endless conveyer 16 having egg-supporting rollers 36 and being driven intermittently through a driven cam shaft 35 and a ratchet and pawl device, the conveyer passing above mercury vapour lamps 41 located in a box slidably mounted in the casing of the apparatus. A belt 65 is provided at each side of the apparatus and passes over a rod 72 connected to a cam arm 81 and cam 82 carried by the shaft 25 so that when forward movement of the conveyer is interrupted, the cams 82 cause the rods to be oscillated to the position shown to bring the belt 65 into contact with the ends of the rollers thereby causing them to rotate the eggs at accelerated speed. An opening 90 in the casing communicates with a suction fan whereby air is drawn through the casing, and baffle plates 55 and a reflector plate 60 are provided.
