Abstract
1,003,142. Aircraft launcher. E. W. BLISS CO. Feb. 26, 1962, No. 17127/65. Divided out of 1,003,141. Heading B7G. An aircraft launcher includes jet turbines 2 coupled by shafts 3 and clutches 4 to reels 22A, 22B on to which tapes 20A, 20B are wound, the tapes being connected to a steel wire cable 12 having a launching chock guided in track B. The tapes are wound on to the reels in a spiral coil having a width which is substantially that of the tape. In Fig. 1 not shown, both reels are driven by a single turbine mounted at one side of runway R. Specification 993,057 also is referred to.
