<PICT:1001970/C1/1> <PICT:1001970/C1/2> To form a wired glass sheet, a sheet is formed by passing molten glass 3 through a pair of rolls 1, 2, imparting a transverse convex curvature to the sheet as it leaves the rolls 1,2, introducing wire netting 7 into the curved part of the sheet so that the mesh of the netting penetrates the glass by cutting the still plastic surface of the sheet and applying pressure to the sheet to close the cuts. As shown, pressure is applied by a second pair of rolls 5, 6, the lower roll 5 being at a level above that of the lower roll 1 to give the curved path. The netting 7 is led over a guide roller 10, which may have helical slots around its periphery to tension the netting, which is positioned between the pairs of rolls. Alternatively, the roll 2 may form a guide roll. In either case, an obturating roller 11 between rolls 2, 6 forms an enclosure within the rolls and a support 4 into which an inert gas may be fed by pipes 12 to further prevent oxidation of the netting.
