Abstract
1,001,875. Counters. AMES LAB-TEK Inc. Sept. 25, 1961 [Oct. 10, 1960], No. 34274/61. Heading G4D. [Also in Division G1] Apparatus for determining the volume of a liquid more particularly blood or albumen serum by a radiation dilution technique (see Division G1) includes a reversible ring counter, Fig. 7. The counter comprises ten step registers 140-1, to 140-10, each including a memory circuit, two " AND " gates and an " OR " gate and each register having associated therewith a bistable circuit 152 (Fig. 6) to energize the sealer in an appropriate direction and a further bi-stable circuit 156 to count the input pulses irrespective of their direction. The ten registers have common input lines 141, 142 and a common reset line 144. The outputs from the last four stages, the last three stages and the last stage are respectively connected to separate indicators to indicate whether the sample being counted is " too strong," " too old " or to indicate " zero " on a reverse count.
