Abstract

Alkali metal compounds are recovered from the alkali-rich dust obtained from a cement kilning plant operating with exhaust gas temperatures of from 100-300 DEG C., the dust being subjected to a wet treatment to form a solution of alkali metal hydroxides and possibly carbonates, the solution is then evaporated utilizing waste heat from the kilning process, e.g. the air from the clinker cooling equipment.
