A negative feedback transistor amplifier has in series with the base of the first transistor 8 a normally conducting diode 10 which, when the amplifier is switched off becomes non- conducting and maintains the input impedance of the amplifier high. The Figure shows a video signal monitoring amplifier having its input connected through a capacitor 9 to a coaxial line and its output feeding parallel amplifiers 19, 20, 21.
