Abstract

[Also in Division B7] A wheel for a crane or a crab thereof has a resilient tyre 11, Fig. 1, having a Young's modulus not exceeding 5 x 10<SP>6</SP> p.s.i., and flanges 10, the inner surfaces of which are lined with polytetrafluoroethylene or " Ferobestos " (Registered Trade Mark). These linings reduce noise and friction caused by the steering forces. In a further embodiment, protective plates 13, Fig. 2, of smaller diameter than the tyre are bolted on the wheel. Noise and friction reducing linings 15 are provided on the outside of the plates and these abut guide surfaces on the rails supporting the crane or crab. Specification 1,001,561 is referred to.
