HAIR STYLING COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS

The present disclosure relates to compositions and methods for styling hair, particularly compositions and methods for temporarily straightening curly or wavy hair without requiring the use of heat.

CONTEXT

Consumers with curly or wavy hair often want to temporarily straighten their hair to change its appearance and then return to their curly hairstyle without damaging it. Additionally, reducing curl in very curly hair can increase the manageability and styleability of that hair.

Currently, temporary straightening of curly/wavy or frizzy hair usually involves the use of hot tools such as hair dryers and/or flat irons. The high temperature of hair dryers and/or irons causes the hydrogen bonds in the hair's keratin to break, allowing temporary straightening. Hydrogen bonds are formed again by the action of moisture, so the hair returns to its original shape over time due to humidity in the air or after being washed or dampened.

Long-term and/or permanent hair straightening is typically achieved by using chemical hair straightening treatments, such as relaxers, with a high pH. Hair shape is primarily determined by the disulfide bonds connecting two cysteine moieties of hair keratin. To obtain a long-lasting and/or lasting sculpting or styling effect, it is generally necessary to separate the disulfide bonds through the action of a reducing agent or a straightening agent containing a sulfide or thiol group. Once the hair has been brought into the desired shape, new disulfide bonds are formed by applying an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide, thereby fixing the shape of the hair. However, the use of such agents can damage the hair and weaken it, leading to its subsequent breakage. Classic products that provide hold, such as styling gels, but can also provide hair straightening effects, flake on the hair and make the hair look very stiff and unnatural. Additionally, classic straightening routines usually take a lot of time.

As it stands, there is a need for new improved compositions which can be simply applied to the hair and which provide straightening effects to curly or wavy hair which would not damage the hair, whilst imparting various additional sensory properties to the hair. hair such as frizz control, softness, smoothness and/or shine. The present disclosure addresses these needs and concerns and relates to novel compositions and methods that can provide a styling effect, particularly a temporary straightening effect on curly/wavy hair without the need to use heat.

It has now surprisingly been found that a combination of components described herein achieves a balance between hair straightening performance and the consumer's desired look and feel, even in high humidity conditions, and is useful in providing a desired temporary straightening effect. to curly or wavy hair through a simple application routine without the use of hot tools or harsh chemicals such as reducing agents or relaxers, while providing additional sensory benefits such as frizz control, appearance and natural feel to the hair. The temporary straightening effect and other benefits such as frizz control provided to hair last, as it can last in high humidity conditions and until the next hair wash, without damaging the natural curls.

SUMMARY

The present disclosure relates to compositions that provide a temporary straightening effect to curly or wavy hair, while providing in some embodiments one or more additional benefits such as frizz control, softness, smoothness and/or shine. hair. The disclosure also relates to methods of using the compositions to style hair, particularly temporarily straightening curly/wavy hair, while providing at least some embodiments of the additional sensory benefits described above to the hair.

In various embodiments, the hair styling compositions according to the present disclosure comprise (a) at least one latex-type film former selected from acrylate-based polymers, polyurethane-based polymers, derivatives thereof , or combinations thereof; (b) at least one polysaccharide gum; (c) potato starch or a derivative thereof; and (d) water. Optionally, the compositions may comprise at least one silicone acrylate, at least one polyol, at least one silicone oil and/or at least one non-ionic guar. Hair styling compositions may, in at least some embodiments, be formulated as a gel-cream, where the compositions have gel-like textures with an opaque creamy appearance. The compositions typically have a pH less than 7, for example from about 4 to about 6, or from about 5 to about 6. The hair styling compositions according to the present disclosure may, at least in some embodiments, be free or essentially free from chemical straightening agents or reducing agents. In some embodiments, the hair styling compositions may be free or substantially free of polyphenols, including tannic acid. Additionally, the composition disclosed herein may be free or substantially free of cationic polymers. The compositions may also be free or substantially free of dyes, pigments and/or colorants.

In various embodiments, the total amount of latex film former(s) may range from about 0.5% to about 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. In additional embodiments, at least one of the latex film former is selected from an acrylate copolymer of two or more (meth)acrylic acid monomers or a simple ester thereof, a styrene copolymer /acrylates, an acrylate/ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer, or mixtures thereof. In certain embodiments, at least one latex-type film former is an acrylate copolymer.

In various embodiments, the at least one polysaccharide gum may be present in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 2% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. In additional embodiments, the at least one polysaccharide gum is preferably chosen from sclerotia gum, gum arabic, tragacanth gum, karaya gum, guar gum, gellan gum, gum tara, locust bean gum, tamarind gum, xanhan gum, carrageenan gum, dehydroxanthan gum, Seneca gum, gellan gum or mixtures thereof. In some embodiments, the polysaccharide gum comprises, consists essentially of, or consists of dehydroxanthan gum.

In additional embodiments, the potato starch or derivative thereof may be present in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 8% by weight, e.g., about 0.2 % to about 5%, from about 0.3% to about 2%, or from about 0.4% to about 1% by weight, based on the total weight of the hair styling composition. In various embodiments, water is present in an amount of at least 70% by weight, such as about 70% to about 96%, about 80% to about 95%, about 85% to approximately 95% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.

If present, the at least one silicone acrylate may be present in an amount ranging from approximately 0.5% to approximately 20% by weight, relative to the total weight of the hair styling composition. If present, the at least one silicone oil may be present in an amount ranging from approximately 2% to approximately 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. In other embodiments, at least one silicone oil may be chosen from methicone, amodimethicones, dimethicones, polydiethylsiloxanes, dimethiconols, phenyl trimethicone, or mixtures thereof.

If present, the total amount of polyol(s) may range from approximately 1% to approximately 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. In certain embodiments, the at least one polyol is chosen from sorbitol, glycols or mixtures thereof. The amount of sorbitol, if present, may range from about 1% to about 3% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. The quantity of glycol(s), if present, may range from approximately 1% to approximately 5% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.

If present, the total amount of nonionic guar(s) may range from about 0.1% to about 1% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.

In other embodiments, compositions according to the disclosure may comprise (a) at least one latex-type film former chosen from acrylate-based polymers, polyurethane, derivatives thereof, or combinations thereof. -this, present in an amount ranging from approximately 1% to approximately 15% by weight; (b) at least one polysaccharide gum, present in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 2% by weight; (c) potato starch or a derivative thereof, present in an amount ranging from about 0.2% to about 3% by weight; (d) optionally, a silicone acrylate, present in an amount ranging from about 1% to about 1.5% by weight; (e) optionally, at least one polyol, present in an amount ranging from about 1% to about 10% by weight; (f) optionally, at least one non-ionic gaur, present in an amount ranging from about 0.1% to about 1% by weight; (g) optionally, at least one silicone oil, present in an amount ranging from about 2% to about 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition; and (h) water, present in an amount at least 70% by weight; wherein the pH of the hair styling composition is less than 7; and in which all quantities are relative to the total weight of the composition.

In various embodiments, the methods according to the present disclosure include applying to the hair any hair styling composition disclosed herein, and after drying the hair, straightening the hair by combing it with fingers or a combing tool. The composition applied to the hair can be left on the hair for the desired duration until the hair is washed. In other embodiments, no chemical or thermal relaxers or reducing agents are applied to the hair before, during or after application of the hair styling composition to the hair. As it stands, in at least certain embodiments, the methods do not include the use of a reducing agent or a chemical relaxer, and/or a step of heating the hair.

The compositions are not mascara compositions and are not intended for application to eyelashes or eyebrows. Likewise, the compositions are not makeup compositions and are not intended to be applied to the skin.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The disclosure relates to compositions for styling hair, e.g. compositions for temporarily straightening wavy or curly hair, while providing frizz control and other sensory benefits to the hair. The disclosure also relates to methods of using the compositions to style hair.

I. Compositions

In various embodiments, the compositions according to the disclosure comprise (a) at least one latex-type film former chosen from acrylate-based polymers, polyurethane-based polymers, derivatives thereof or combinations thereof -this ; (b) at least one polysaccharide gum; (c) potato starch or a derivative thereof; and (d) water. Optionally, the compositions may include a silicone acrylate, at least one polyol, at least one silicone oil and/or at least one non-ionic guar. The compositions may be, for example, formulated as an oil-in-water emulsion, and may have a pH less than 7. A polyphenol and a chemical relaxer or reducing agent are not required; as such, the compositions may be free or essentially free of polyphenols, chemical straightening agents and/or reducing agents. The compositions may, for example, be used as leave-in compositions for styling hair, particularly for temporarily straightening curly or wavy hair, without the use of heat.

It has surprisingly been found that the compositions can have beneficial effects on the hair, such as temporarily straightening the hair, without the need for thermal or chemical relaxers, while providing in at least some embodiments one or more elements of softness. , smoothness, shine, volume control and/or frizz control to the hair. It appears, but is not limited to, that the benefits result from a synergistic combination of the ingredients disclosed herein. As used herein, polyurethane-based polymers and/or their derivatives are polymers containing carbamate linkages.

In certain embodiments, the acrylate-based polymers or derivatives used as latex-type film formers may be chosen from acrylate copolymers, a styrene/acrylate copolymer, an acrylate/ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer, or mixtures thereof. . Potato starch or derivatives thereof

Silicone oils

The compositions according to the disclosure may optionally comprise at least one silicone oil. In some embodiments, the compositions according to the disclosure may optionally comprise at least two silicone oils.

In some embodiments, the compositions include at least one high molecular weight silicone oil and at least one low molecular weight silicone oil. Such a blend of high and low molecular weight silicone oil can provide smoothing benefits as well as improved humidity resistance of hair. In some embodiments, when high and low molecular weight silicone oils are included in the composition, these two types of silicone oils are present in the same or similar amounts, i.e., with a ratio weight of these oils at or close to 1:1.

In certain embodiments, at least one silicone oil is chosen from dimethicone and/or amodimethicone. In another embodiment, the compositions disclosed herein may include both dimethicone and amodimethicone, with a preferred dimethicone to amodimethicone weight ratio at or near 1:1.

In some embodiments, mixtures of silicone compounds, e.g. silicone emulsions, may be used. Polyols

The compositions according to the disclosure optionally comprise one or more polyols. In some embodiments, the compositions disclosed herein may include at least two polyols. As used herein, the term "polyol" refers to an organic molecule comprising at least two free hydroxyl groups. Polyols can be liquid at room temperature (25°C). Suitable polyols which may be included in the compositions disclosed herein may be glycols or compounds having numerous hydroxyl groups. In certain cases, the at least one polyol is chosen from polyols having 2 to 32 carbon atoms, namely C2-C32 polyols, such as from 3 to 16 carbon atoms, or from 3 to 12 carbon atoms.

For example, the at least one polyol, where appropriate, may be chosen from ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, butylene glycol, hexylene glycol, glycerin, diglycerin, diethylene glycol and dipropylene glycol, polyethylene glycols or mixtures thereof. Nonionic Guar

The compositions according to the disclosure optionally comprise one or more non-ionic guar(s). A suitable nonionic guar may be selected from nonionic guar gums, nonionic C1-C3 alkyl guar, nonionic C1-C3 hydroxyalkyl guar starches, dextrans or mixtures thereof. In some embodiments, the compositions disclosed herein may include hydroxypropyl guar. For example, hydroxypropyl guar commercially available under the trade name JAGUAR HP 8, from the company Rhodia, can be used.

Additional components

The compositions according to the disclosure may optionally comprise one or more additional components suitable for use in such compositions. Non-limiting examples of these additional components are provided below.

pH correctors

The compositions disclosed herein may include one or more pH correctors to increase or decrease the overall pH of the composition. For example, one or more acids may be included to reduce the pH of the cosmetic composition. Examples of acids suitable for lowering the pH of compositions may include one or more acids. The cosmetic composition may include one or more bases, such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and the like, to increase the pH of the cosmetic composition. Additional or alternative acids and bases which are suitable for correcting the pH of compositions are readily known to those of ordinary skill in the art. For example, in some embodiments, the pH corrector is a sodium hydroxide solution such as 0.1 M NaOH.

Conservatives

One or more preservatives may be included in the compositions described here for treating hair. Suitable preservatives include, but are not limited to, glycerin-containing compounds (e.g., glycerin, ethylhexylglycerin, or phenoxyethanol), benzyl alcohol, parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben , etc.), sodium benzoate, benzoic acid, chlorhexidine digluconate, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), potassium sorbate and/or grapefruit seed extract, or a mixture thereof this. In various embodiments, the compositions are acidic and may have a pH less than 7. For example, the pH of the composition may range from about 3.5 to about 6.8, from about 3.5 to about 6 .5, from about 4 to about 6, including all intermediate ranges and subranges.

In some embodiments, the hair styling compositions according to the present disclosure may be free or essentially free of polyphenols, including tannic acid. In other embodiments, the compositions do not include a chemical hair straightener. In some embodiments, the hair styling compositions according to the present disclosure do not include a chemical straightening agent. Additionally, the compositions disclosed herein may not include a cationic polymer. The compositions disclosed herein may also be free or substantially free of dyes, pigments and/or colorants.

A hair styling composition according to claim 1, wherein the composition is in a gel-cream form which has a gel-like texture with an opaque creamy appearance.

The compositions according to the disclosure may be in the form of a cream or lotion of a water-in-oil emulsion, but are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, the compositions are formulated as a gel-cream, which has a gel-like texture with an opaque creamy appearance. In some embodiments, the compositions are a non-aerosol type product, which may be dispensed from a bottle, tube, or spray bottle. The compositions can be used as leave-in compositions for styling hair, particularly for straightening curly or wavy hair, without the use of heat.

II. Processes

The compositions disclosed herein may be used for styling hair, particularly for temporarily straightening curly or wavy hair. Furthermore, the compositions disclosed herein are surprisingly capable of providing a variety of desirable additional sensory properties, e.g., anti-frizz, hydration, softness, smoothness and/or shine to the hair. As such, the present disclosure also relates to methods of styling hair, in particular the temporary straightening of curly or wavy hair, while caring for the hair and imparting one or more sensory benefits described above. Heat is not necessary to achieve the described hair benefits. As such, the processes typically do not require the use of heat.

The methods disclosed herein typically include applying an effective amount of a composition disclosed herein to hair having waves or curls. As used herein, the term "effective amount" refers to an amount sufficient to impart a desired straightening effect to the hair, taking into account the degree of curl, length, volume and texture of the hair, and/or in an amount sufficient to confer a desired sensory benefit to the hair. Typically, about 0.5g to about 50g of product is applied to the hair, depending on the product formula, length, volume and hairstyle type. The composition applied to the hair can, for example, be distributed uniformly by combing it with the fingers or by a means such as a comb or the like. Once the composition is evenly distributed on the hair, allow the hair to air dry for the necessary time, for example at least 15 minutes, at least 30 minutes, at least 1 hour or up to 6 hours , until they are dry. In some circumstances, instead of allowing the hair to air dry under room conditions, it can be dried using a ball dryer or hair dryer at room temperature, e.g. temperature below 50C, for example 40-45 °C. In some embodiments, before applying the composition to the hair, the hair may first be cleansed with a commercially available shampoo and/or rinsed with water. The composition can then be applied to washed and/or rinsed hair, preferably when the hair is wet, damp or sweaty. In certain other embodiments, before applying the composition to the hair, if the hair is dry, it may be hydrated, moistened or wet by spraying with water or using a damp towel.

The methods according to the disclosure generally do not require the use of a reducing agent, including a base, particularly a strong base (as in alkaline detergents and relaxers which use a metal hydroxide), or the heating of the hair to obtain a temporary smoothing effect. Thus, in some embodiments, the method does not include the use of a chemical straightening agent, reducing agent or base, and/or does not include heating the hair.

In various embodiments, methods of treating hair with the compositions according to the disclosure confer the benefits described above to the hair, without feeling greasy or flaking, compared to hair that has not been treated with a composition according to the disclosure . The benefits provided to the hair can remain for a desired length of time, such as a few hours, a few days or until the hair is rinsed or washed.

The compositions described here are not mascara compositions, that is to say, they are not intended to be applied to eyelashes and/or eyebrows. Example 1 – Evaluation of hair strand performance in vitro

In vitro wick studies were carried out to evaluate the performance of the compositions herein.

1.1 – Compositions

Exemplary comparative compositions C1, C2 and C3 and inventive compositions 1A and 1B were prepared according to the formulations presented in the
Table 1.

All compositions were formulated in gel-cream form, where the compositions had gel-like textures with an opaque creamy appearance. The pH of the compositions was approximately 5.5-6.5 at 25°C. The compositions exhibited Brookfield viscosities of approximately 24,500 cps, measured using a B spindle at 10 rpm for approximately 1 min under ambient conditions.

1.2 – Tests on strands of hair

The inventive compositions 1A and 1B and the comparative compositions C1, C2 and C3 were tested against water (control) on strands of virgin Caucasian hair with curls according to the following process in order to evaluate the curl straightening effectiveness of the compositions disclosed herein.

First, the hair strands were washed with a commercially available shampoo at a bath ratio of approximately 0.4 g per gram of hair (0.4 g/g of hair). Once the hair is washed, the excess water has been squeezed out of the strands. Then, equal amounts of compositions 1A, 1B and C1-C3 were respectively applied to a separate strand of hair in a bath ratio of approximately 0.15 g of composition per 1 g of hair, and were distributed evenly over the hair in ten passes with the fingers, followed by three passes with a comb to comb the hair in a straight line. Locks of hair treated in the same way with water were used as a control. Photos of these strands of hair were taken at this moment (T1). The hair strands were then air dried under ambient condition. Once the hair strands were dried, the strands were evaluated in terms of film properties (number of passes required to break the film formed on the hair), stiffness, frizz and tactile sensation compared to hair treated with hair. water (control) and photos of these strands of hair were taken at this moment (T2). After evaluation, the hair strands were placed in a humidity chamber with 80% relative humidity (RH) at room temperature (25°C) for one hour. The above tests were carried out on duplicate strands of hair, i.e. each composition was used to treat two separate strands of hair.

All properties were independently evaluated by ten (10) individuals. Stiffness was rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the least stiff and 5 being the stiffest. Frizz was also rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the least frizz and 5 being the most frizz.

1.3 - Results

The visual and tactile properties of the hair strands evaluated by the ten individuals at the times of application of the composition while the treated hair was wet (T1) and after the treated hair had dried and the fingers were passed through (T2 ) were summarized in Table 2.

The photographs of the strands of hair at times T1, T2 and T3 in experiments Ex.1, Ex.2, Ex.3, Ex.4 and Ex.5, corresponding to the hair respectively treated with compositions C1, C2, 1A, C3 and 1B, opposite the strands of hair treated with water (control), were shown in the photographs of the . The graduated levels of hair stiffness and frizz at T3 are shown on the and the , respectively.

As can be seen in Figures 1, 2 and 3, hair strands treated with compositions C1, C2, C3, 1A and 1B all showed notable stiffness and frizz control properties compared to the control. The properties last even after hair has been exposed to high humidity (80% RH) for an hour. Hair strands treated with composition 1B, which included acrylate copolymers, dehydroxanthan gum, potato starch and silicone acrylates, were the straightest with the least amount of frizz. However, 4 to 5 passes were necessary to break the film on the hair treated with composition 1B, which was greater than the number of passes required to break the films formed on the hair by compositions 1A, C2 and C3, as in shows Table 2. As such, the hair treated with composition 1B was straighter than the hair treated with compositions 1A, C2 and C3. In contrast, hair treated with composition 1A, which included acrylate copolymers, dehydroxanthan gum, and potato starch but not silicone acrylates, had a film that was easier to break ( 3 to 4 passes to break), good fiber alignment and a more natural look and feel, as consumers prefer, compared to hair treated with composition 1B. In addition, the hair strands treated with composition 1A showed better stiffness and less frizz compared to hair treated with compositions C1, C2 and C3, which do contain a starch.

Example 2 – In vivo evaluation on consumer hair

In this example, the performance of the compositions according to the present disclosure having different levels of acrylate copolymers was tested and evaluated in vivo on the hair of a consumer.

2.1 – Compositions

Compositions 2A and 2B according to the present disclosure were prepared with different quantities of acrylate copolymer, as presented in Table 3.

Preparation process :

Secondary tank 1: Add 8% water to a suitable beaker. Sprinkle with potato starch and heat to 80-85C.

Secondary tank 2: Add amodimethicone (and) trideceth-6 (and) cetrimonium chloride

and dimethicone in a suitable beaker and mix until well blended.

Main tank:

Add 49% water.

Slowly sprinkle in the hydroxypropyl guar and dehydroxanthan gum with aggressive stirring and mix until uniform.

Once uniform, add butylene glycol, hydrogenated starch hydrolyzate, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin and the contents of secondary tank 2, then mix until uniform.

Transfer the contents of secondary tank 1 into the main tank, using 3% water during transfer.

Filter the acrylate copolymer through a 50 micron filter.

Add the filtered acrylate copolymer and the rest of the water to the main tank.

Mix until uniform.

Take the specs.

Compositions 2A and 2B were in gel-cream form and had viscosities of approximately 24,500 cps, measured using a Brookfield rheometer with pin B at 10 rpm for 1 minute at ambient conditions. . The pH of these compositions was about 5.5 to about 6.5 at 25°C.

2.2 – Tests on strands of hair

Compositions 2A and 2B were tested in vivo on a consumer having curly hair with average hair density, diameter and porosity.

Before starting the treatment, photos were taken to show the initial appearance of the hair on the left and right side of the consumer's head. After initial photos were taken, the client's hair was washed with a commercially available shampoo and then conditioned with a commercially available lightweight conditioner. The washed hair was diffused until approximately 80% dry. Then, 15 grams of each of compositions 2A and 2B were respectively applied in sections on the consumer's hair via half-head application, where composition 2A was applied on the left side in back view and composition 2B was applied on the right side in back view. After the applications, the hair on each side of the head was combed separately to straighten it, then air dried. After air drying for approximately 4 hours, the hair was evaluated for stiffness and tactile feel, and photos were taken to show the final appearance of the hair on the left and right sides of the hair's head. consumer at the end of treatment (T1).

2.3 - Results

It was observed that during application, both compositions were easy to apply and distribute with a good balance of slip and adhesion to help create a straight hairstyle during combing, with a slight consumer preference for the composition 2B, which contains less acrylate copolymer (latex) than composition 2A. Furthermore, it was observed that once the treated hair was dried and combed, the straight hairstyle was maintained. When the treated hair was dried, the hair also exhibited improved root volume and hair movement, as well as other properties such as less frizz, a clean feel, lightness and smoothness.

There is a set of photographs showing the appearance of the client's initial hair before treatment (T0) and the final appearance after treatment (T1). The hair on the left side (back view) was treated with composition 2A, and the hair on the right side (back view) was treated with composition 2B. As shown in the , Compositions 2A and 2B both provided remarkable smoothing and anti-frizz benefits to hair without heat (no heat was added to the hair). Hair treated with composition 2B showed slightly less frizz and had better discipline, compared to hair treated with composition 2A.

It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations may be made to the compositions and methods according to the disclosure without departing from the spirit or scope of the disclosure. It is therefore intended that the disclosure covers these modifications and variations as well as their equivalents.

Claims (10)

Hair styling composition comprising:
(a) at least one latex-type film former chosen from acrylate-based polymers, polyurethane-based polymers, their derivatives or their combinations;
(b) at least one polysaccharide gum;
(c) potato starch and/or a derivative thereof; And
(d) water;
wherein the pH of the hair styling composition is less than 7. Hair styling composition according to claim 1, wherein the total amount of the latex-like film former(s) selected from acrylate-based polymers, polyurethane, derivatives or combinations thereof ranges from about 0.5% to about 15%, preferably from about 0.5% to about 10%, more preferably from about 1% to about 10%, most preferably from about 4% to about 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. Hair styling composition according to claim 2, wherein the acrylate-based polymers or their derivatives, if present, are preferably selected from a copolymer of acrylates of two or more (meth) acid monomers acrylic or one of their simple esters, a styrene/acrylates copolymer, an acrylates/ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer, or mixtures thereof. A hair styling composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the total amount of polysaccharide gum(s) ranges from about 0.1% to about 2%, preferably from about 0.5% to about 2%, more preferably from approximately 0.5% to approximately 1% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition; And
in which the at least one polysaccharide gum is preferably chosen from sclerotia gum, gum arabic, gum tragacanth, karaya gum, guar gum, gellan gum, tara gum, gum of carob, tamarind gum, xanhan gum, dehydroxanthan gum, carrageenan gum, Seneca gum, gellan gum or mixtures thereof. Hair styling composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the total amount of potato starch and/or derivatives thereof ranges from about 0.2% to about 5%, more preferably from about 0.2% to about 2%, more preferably from about 0.2% to about 1% by weight, most preferably from about 0.5% to about 1% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. A hair styling composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the amount of water is at least about 70% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition. A hair styling composition according to any preceding claim, further comprising (e) at least one silicone acrylate copolymer; (f) at least one polyol; (g) at least one non-ionic guar; and/or (h) at least one silicone oil;
in which the at least one silicone acrylate copolymer, if present, preferably comprises an acrylates/polytrimethylsiloxymethacrylate copolymer; and wherein the total amount of silicone acrylate copolymers, if present, ranges from about 0.5% to about 20%, preferably from about 0.5% to about 15%, more preferably d about 0.5% to about 10%, most preferably about 0.5% to about 5% by weight, relative to the total weight of the hair styling composition;
in which the at least one polyol, if present, is preferably chosen from sorbitol, glycols or mixtures thereof; and wherein the total amount of polyols, if present, ranges from about 1% to about 10% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition;
in which the total quantity of the non-sugar guars ranges from approximately 0.1% to approximately 1% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition;
in which the at least one silicone oil, if present, is preferably chosen from methicone, amodimethicones, dimethicones, polydiethylsiloxanes, dimethiconols or mixtures thereof; and wherein the total amount of silicone oils, if present, ranges from about 2% to about 10%, preferably from about 4% to about 10%, more preferably from about 5% to about 10 % by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. A hair styling composition according to any preceding claim, wherein the composition is free or substantially free of polyphenol and/or chemical straightening agent. Process for temporarily straightening hair comprising:
applying to the hair a hair styling composition according to one of the preceding claims; And
subsequent straightening of the hair by combing it with your fingers or using a combing tool;
wherein the hair styling composition is left on the hair for a period of time until the hair is washed. A method according to claim 9, wherein no thermal or chemical relaxer is applied to the hair before, during or after the hair styling composition is applied to the hair.
