Abstract
Figure à publier avec l’abrégé : Fig. 3The invention relates to a process for preparing aggregates intended to form a permeable and rollable floor covering and a device for its implementation. Its aim is to replace a phase of drying of the aggregates, blunting the edges of the aggregates, creating dust by friction and reducing their subsequent strength. This process consists of drying a static batch of crushed aggregates, washed or not, by a flow 11 of pulsed air passing through the entire batch, then storing this batch protected from climatic hazards, until its subsequent mixing with an epoxy or polyurethane binder. The implementation device comprises a receptacle 3 which, containing the batch of crushed gravel 1, is provided with a peripheral wall and a perforated bottom 4 which can be placed on the outlet grid 5 of an installation 6 delivering a air flow, natural or forced. Description
With current coatings to resist the stresses transmitted by a rolling vehicle, the coating must have a thickness of between 5 and 8 centimeters, which leads to a large volume of material and very significant implementation costs, often resulting in the abandonment of this technology or prohibiting vehicles from driving on the surface which could alter its structure.
It is to remedy this reduction in resistance that it is necessary to increase the thickness of the permeable coating, up to 8 cm, for example to allow the rolling of light and heavy vehicles or that of the wheels of a handling trolley.
The object of the invention is to provide a process for preparing aggregates intended to form a permeable, non-deformable and rollable floor covering, a process eliminating the formation of dust and any alterations in the characteristics of the aggregates.
The process according to the invention consists of drying a static batch of aggregates, crushed, washed or not, by a flow of pulsed air passing through the entire batch for the duration of the treatment, then storing this batch protected from hazards. climatic conditions until its subsequent mixing with a resin, epoxy or polyurethane.
Thus, in the drying phase and thanks to the elimination of all mixing of the aggregates by vibration, the air flow does not generate any dust or fines and rids each aggregate of its humidity, while retaining its original edges favoring its support with its similar in the final coating.
The final coating obtained has better mechanical resistance to punching, creep and rolling of handling trolley wheels and light and heavy vehicles, and can therefore have a lesser thickness, for example 3 cm instead of 5 to 6 cm. These advantages facilitate the in situ implementation of the coating, reduce costs, increase applications and improve environmental impact.
In one form of implementation, after drying and before mixing, it is verified that the aggregates and the resin and hardener components of the binder are at a temperature of around 25 degrees centigrade, while the humidity level of the aggregates does not exceed 0.2%.
These preparatory precautions guarantee constant results, during spreading and tamping or tightening of the covering and during its life cycle.
In one form of implementation, the batch of crushed aggregates is placed in a tubular receptacle provided with a perforated bottom which can be placed on the outlet grille of an installation delivering a flow of air, natural or forced.
The receptacle and its contents of aggregates constitute a dose of work preparing the subsequent phase of mixing with a binder and facilitating the organization of the sites.
Advantageously, the tubular receptacle is constituted by a material transport and storage bag, also called "Big bag", having in its bottom, a wall, porous or perforated, capable of allowing an incoming air flow to pass, while retaining the aggregates and, as an extension of its vertical walls, lifting and handling handles protruding from its upper peripheral edge.
The invention will be better understood and other advantages thereof will appear on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of non-limiting example and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:

For drying the aggregate, this receptacle is brought, for example by a handling trolley, to the outlet grid 5 of an installation 6 delivering a flow of pulsed air, represented by arrows 11.
The installation 6 comprising means 8 generating an air flow, can be equipped with means 7 for heating the air.
Thanks to this installation, the flow of pulsed air causes the evaporation of the moisture film of each aggregate 2. When all the aggregates are dried, for example after 24 hours for a dose of gravel of 800 kilograms, the receptacle 3 is either placed in storage conditions, protected from climatic hazards, or taken to a mixing station. At this station, its contents are poured into the hopper of a vertical shaft mixer, at the same time as the components of a binder such as epoxy resin with its hardener or polyurethane resin.
As the drying is static, that is to say without agitation of each of the aggregates, the edges of these are not blunted and, at the end of drying, have the same shape as at the entrance and therefore have the same bracing characteristics between aggregates. This characteristic is important because, after dumping on the area to be covered and trowelling the spilled layer to tighten the aggregates, they lean more on each other and provide better hold and resistance of the layer.
During static drying, no dust is generated and the aggregate is therefore perfectly “clean”. Thus, the resin used during mixing is not consumed by absorption effect by dust and allows the reinforcement of the aggregates to be fixed, guaranteeing perfect hold and resistance over time.
In the covering layer, the tightening of the aggregates together multiplies the points of contact and the points of bonding by the resin. For equal resistance, this ability makes it possible to reduce the thickness of the coating layer, the installation time and the hardening time.
The bottom wall 21 is linked by seams to the panels constituting the side walls 22 and to reinforcing strips 23. These strips 23 are extended beyond the upper peripheral edge of the receptacle to form loops 24 for gripping by the forks of a forklift.
