Abstract

FOLDABLE SHOPPING BACKPACK Technical field of the invention

The present invention relates to a bag, of known general design, which is in particular commonly and widely used and distributed in supermarkets, for example a bag for shopping.

The invention relates in particular to a shopping bag which can be used in the form of a backpack.

Technical background

For packaging and transporting shopping, we know of small bags, made of so-called degradable materials, and for example based on plastic, paper or textiles.

These bags can be disposable.

In addition to their small capacity, these bags with a pair of upper handles allowing them to be carried by hand are fragile and their design practically does not allow the transport of shopping over long distances, or for example by bicycle, unless these bags are stored in a cart, in a vehicle trunk or even in a basket or bag fitted to a bicycle or moped.

Furthermore, bags of greater capacity and greater rigidity have already been proposed, in the shape of a so-called shopping bag of the rectangular parallelepiped type which is in particular commonly and widely used and distributed in supermarkets.

However, these shopping bags - possibly foldable - must always be carried by hand.

In order to prevent the handles of such shopping bags from sawing the fingers of their users under the weight of the numerous items they contain, and to make it easier to transport purchases, especially when you have to walk, or use a bicycle, several designs of bags having straps allowing their use as a backpack have already been proposed.

A first example of design is a tote-shaped bag generally more elongated than high, the body of which has a closure of its upper filling end and the pair of central handles of which constitute a pair of straps.

According to another design, close to the shape of a so-called packing bag, it is in the form of a bag comprising a flexible body of tubular shape which is open at its upper end to allow the contents of the bag to be filled or emptied. , and a lower bottom. The body of the bag is equipped with a pair of straps or straps allowing it to be lifted and moved and then, if necessary and/or desirable, used as a backpack.

In order to have great strength, extremely low weight, and the lowest possible cost, all of the constituent panels of such shopping bags are made of a flexible material in the general form of plasticized fabric, or of a sheet of plastic material. , or synthetic assembled by gluing and/or sewing.

The materials used and the designs of such bags make it possible to have large capacity bags that are more easily portable.

The invention aims to propose a design of such a bag making it possible to reduce its bulk as much as possible when it is not in use, and for example to allow it to be stored in a pocket, another small bag size such as a handbag or satchel, etc.

The invention proposes a folding shopping bag between:
- a deployed state of use in which the shopping bag comprises a flexible body of tubular shape which is open at its upper end to allow the filling or emptying of the contents of the shopping bag, and has a lower bottom;
- and an intermediate folded state in which the tubular body of the empty shopping bag is flattened into two flat front and rear parts which overlap,
shopping bag in which the tubular body of the shopping bag consists of a vertical side wall, a lower end of which is fixed to the lower bottom,
characterized in that the shopping bag is foldable from its intermediate folded state towards a final folded state in which, after a series of successive and simultaneous foldings of the two superimposed flat parts according to a series of horizontal folding lines and according to a series vertical folding lines, the shopping bag is folded into a wallet according to a generally rectangular template,
and in that the shopping bag comprises a closure system which is permanently fixed to the tubular body of the shopping bag for:
--keep the shopping bag in its final folded state;
-- or close the upper end of the tubular body of the shopping bag in its deployed state.

According to other characteristics of the invention:

- the shopping bag comprises at least x spaced apart horizontal folding lines which divide each of said two superimposed flat parts into x+1 horizontal sections, and at least y vertical folding lines which divide each of said two superimposed flat parts into y+ 1 vertical sections,
and, in the final folded state, the generally rectangular template of the tubular body folded into a portfolio is delimited by two adjacent horizontal folding lines and by two adjacent vertical folding lines;
- the number x of horizontal folding lines is an odd number greater than or equal to three, in particular equal to three, and the number y of vertical folding lines is an even number, in particular equal to two;
- said horizontal folding lines divide each of said two superimposed flat parts into x+1 horizontal sections of substantially equal heights, and said vertical folding lines divide each of said two superimposed flat parts into y+1 vertical sections of substantially equal widths;
- the vertical side wall of the tubular body comprises:
-- a rear panel of generally rectangular shape delimited by two vertical side edges,
-- and a complementary panel of generally rectangular shape delimited by two vertical side edges, each of which is fixed to an associated side edge of the rear panel;
- in the intermediate folded state, the tubular body of the shopping bag comprises:
-- a rear flat part consisting of said rear panel of the side wall and, on either side of the latter, an end portion of the complementary panel of the side wall of the tubular body of the shopping bag;
-- and a front flat part consisting of a central portion of said panel complementary to the side wall of the tubular body;
- the closure system comprises a rear element, one end of which is fixed on the exterior face of said rear flat part, and a complementary front element, one end of which is fixed on the exterior face of said front flat part;
- the end of the rear element of the closure system is fixed on the exterior face of the second horizontal section starting from the open upper end of the tubular body;
- the rear element of the closing system is provided with a closing member, and the length of the rear element and/or means for adjusting the position of the closing member along the rear element allows ( attempt) to position the closure member at the level of the upper edge of the tubular body which delimits its open upper end;
- the foldable shopping bag has a pair of flexible straps for use as a backpack;
- each strap is a section of flexible strap, one upper end of which is fixed to a reinforcing strip attached to the exterior face of said rear panel

Detailed description of the invention

For the description of the invention and the understanding of the claims, we will adopt without limitation the vertical, longitudinal and transverse orientations according to the reference V, L, T indicated in the figures whose longitudinal axes L and transverse T extend in a horizontal plane.

By convention, the longitudinal axis L is oriented from rear to front, the transverse axis T is oriented from left to right and the vertical axis V is oriented from bottom to top.

In the description which follows, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numerals.

There is a schematic representation in exploded perspective of the different components of an exemplary embodiment of a shopping bag 10 according to the invention comprising:
- a bottom 14 and the two components 16 and 18 constituting the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10;
- a closing system comprising a rear closing element 20AR and a front closing element 20AV making it possible to close the upper end of the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10 when the latter is in its state of use and is filled with shopping , or to maintain the shopping bag 10 in a folded storage state;
- two flexible straps left 24G and right 24D allowing the shopping bag 10 to be used as a backpack to carry the shopping it contains;
- and a strip 28, of generally horizontal orientation, attached to the exterior face of the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10 which reinforces it locally, in particular to allow the attachment of the flexible straps 24G and 24D and the rear closure element 20AR.

To the , the general conformation and orientation of the shopping bag 10 corresponds to the so-called deployed or unfolded state of use of the shopping bag in which the body 12 of generally tubular shape extends in the vertical direction V with its upper end 30 open to allow filling of the shopping bag or emptying of the contents of the shopping bag.

In addition to its bottom 14, the shopping bag 10 comprises a tubular body which is here made up of two components including a rear panel 16, which is a so-called dorsal panel when the shopping bag 10 is used as a backpack, and a complementary panel 18.

By tubular, we mean a body of generally hollow cylindrical shape which extends generally in the vertical orientation with a significant total height compared to the dimensions of the bottom 14.
By way of non-limiting example, the height of panels 16 and 18 is substantially equal to twice the largest dimension of bottom 14.

Each of the three elements 14, 16 and 18 is here a panel of generally rectangular outline which is made of a flexible material in the general form of plasticized fabric, or of a sheet of plastic or synthetic material, for example of braided polypropylene, the assembly being produced in particular by stitching and sewing, or by any other appropriate technique such as gluing or heat-sealing.

The bottom 14 is delimited by a rear transverse edge 14AR, a front transverse edge 14AV, a left longitudinal edge 14G and a right longitudinal edge 14D.

The rear panel 16, of vertical and transverse orientation, is delimited by a lower transverse edge 16I, an upper transverse edge 16S, a left vertical side edge 16G and a right vertical side edge 16D.

The complementary panel 18 is delimited by a lower edge 18I, an upper edge 18S, a left vertical side edge 18G and a right vertical side edge 18D.

The upper horizontal edges 16S and 18S of the two rear panels 16 and side 18 respectively, delimit the open upper end 30 for filling the shopping bag 10.

In known manner, the assembly of the different elements 14, 16 and 18 is for example carried out by stitching and sewing, or by any other appropriate technique such as bonding or heat welding.

To produce the shopping bag 10, the adjacent vertical side edges 16D and 18D, as well as the adjacent vertical side edges 16G and 18G, are fixed to each other to constitute the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10.

The lower rear transverse edge 16I of the rear transverse panel 16 is fixed to the rear transverse edge 14AR of the bottom 14.

The lower edge 18I of the complementary panel 18 is fixed along the front transverse edge 14AV, along the left longitudinal edge 14G and along the right longitudinal edge 14D.

By way of non-limiting example, and as can be seen in particular in Figures 1 and 2, the transverse width of the rear transverse panel 16 is substantially equal to the transverse width of the bottom 14.

As, without limitation, the bottom 14 here has a rectangular outline, at least the lower part of the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10 as illustrated in the has a general rectangular parallelepiped shape comprising in particular two lateral faces on the left FLG and on the right FLD.

In its middle and upper part, particularly in the vicinity of the upper edge 16S-18S, the tubular body 12 has a tubular shape of generally circular section.

The rear face of the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10 consists of the rear transverse panel 16.

To allow the shopping bag to be folded when not in use, each left side face FLG and right side FLD of the complementary panel 18 has a median vertical fold 22G and 22D respectively.

The right side face FLD can be delimited by the connection between the connected edges 16D and 18D, and by a vertical fold PLD which can be marked or preformed during the manufacture of the bag.

The left side face FLG can be delimited by the connection between the connected edges 16G and 18G, and by a vertical fold PLG which can be marked or preformed during the manufacture of the bag.

Likewise, in the same plane as that which contains the folds 22G and 22D, the bottom 14 has a central transverse median fold 22F.

Thus, the lower part of the shopping bag 10 has a “bellows” shape allowing, from its deployed state of use, to fold it to reach an intermediate folded state – shown in Figures 4 and 5 – in which the bag of races 10 empty is flattened into two flat parts rear PPAR and front PPAV respectively, which are superimposed one on the other.

The rear flat part PPAR is made up of the rear panel 16 and, laterally on either side of this rear panel 16, of a part of the complementary panel 18.

Non-limitatively, during a first folding step to reach this intermediate folded state, the bottom 14 is also folded into two halves along its median transverse central fold 22F, with its two halves folded on top of each other. inwards between the two superimposed flat parts PPAR and PPAV.

Each flexible strap 24G, 24D has an upper end 25G, 25 D which is fixed to the exterior face of the rear panel 16 via the horizontal reinforcing strip 28 which is itself sewn onto this exterior face.

Each flexible strap 24G, 24D has a lower end 23G, 23 D which is fixed on the exterior face of the rear panel 16, each in a lower corner of this panel.
For example, the fixing of this lower end 23G, 23D can be ensured by means of a triangular reinforcing gusset 26G, 26D attached to the shopping bag 10.

In known manner, each flexible strap 24G, 24D can be made in two complementary sections of strap connected together by a device 27G, 27D for adjusting its length.

The rear closing element 20AR has an end 19AR which is fixed on the exterior face of the rear panel 16 (for example via the horizontal reinforcing strip 28) here transversely substantially in the middle of this rear panel 16, and therefore transversely in the middle of the rear flat part PPAR (See ).

Near its other end, the rear closing element 20AR is provided with a closing buckle 32AR, which is here mounted in an adjustable manner along the associated strap section.

The front closing element 20AV has an end 19AV which is fixed on the exterior face of the central front portion of the complementary panel 18 of the side wall of the tubular body.

The point of attachment of the end 19AV is located substantially in the middle of this central portion, and therefore in the middle of the flat front part PPAV (See ).

At its other end, the front closing element 20AV is provided with a closing loop 32AV which is complementary to the loop 32AR which equips the rear closing element 20AR to, in a known manner, allow their assembly by elastic interlocking or clipping.

The length of the strap constituting the rear closing element 20AR is such that it is sufficient to allow the position of the buckle 32AR to be adjusted at least above the horizontal folding line LH1.

In the same way, the length of the strap constituting the front closing element 20AV is such that it is sufficient to allow the position of the buckle 32AV to be adjusted at the level of the horizontal folding line LH1.

As variants not shown, the complementary loops 32AR and 32AV can be replaced by any other equivalent assemblies such as for example loop and hook systems.

The reinforcing strip 28 also makes it possible here to ensure the fixing of a section of flexible strap forming a central ring 34 allowing the shopping bag 10 to be hung.

This ring 34 also constitutes a one-handed gripping handle for the shopping bag 10 by its user.

To carry out the second step of folding the shopping bag 10 from its intermediate folded state shown in Figures 4 and 5, to its final folded state shown in Figures 6 and 7, two series of horizontal lines are defined and vertical folding.

As a non-limiting example, we define here a number “x” – equal to three – of horizontal folding lines LH1, LH2 and LH3 which are distributed vertically in a substantially equidistant manner.

These three lines, of which the first line LH1 is the upper horizontal line closest to the open upper end 30 of the shopping bag 10, divide the shopping bag 10 and therefore its two superimposed flat parts PPAR and PPAV into four horizontal sections consecutive TH1, TH2, TH3 and TH4 which are of substantially equal height.

As a non-limiting example, we define here a number “y” – equal to two – of vertical folding lines LVG and LVD which are distributed horizontally in a substantially equidistant manner.

These two lines - of which the first left line LVG is the vertical line closest to the left median vertical fold 22G and of which the second right line LVD is the vertical line closest to the right median vertical fold 22D - divide the shopping bag 10 and therefore its two superimposed flat parts PPAR and PPAV in three consecutive vertical sections TVD, TVC and TVD which are of substantially equal width.

The horizontal and vertical folding lines thus delimit twelve generally rectangular parts whose area of each corresponds to approximately one twelfth of the total area of each flat part PPAV, PPAR.

For the purposes of the invention, each of these rectangular parts defines the final folding template G of the shopping bag 10.

To allow folding leading to the final folded storage state illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 - and also to allow the closure system to be used both to close the upper end of the tubular body 12 of the shopping bag 10 when the latter is in its state of use and is filled with shopping, only to maintain the shopping bag 10 in its folded storage state - the end 19AR of the rear closing element 20AR is fixed inside the rectangular part belonging to the second horizontal section TH2 and the central vertical section TVC and which is delimited by the horizontal folding lines TH1 and TH2 and by the vertical folding lines TVG and TVD.

To this end, the closing loop 32AR must be able to be positioned at the level of the upper edge 18S.

Non-limitatively, the upper ends 25G and 25D of the straps 24G and 24D are here also fixed inside the rectangular part belonging to the second horizontal section TH2 and to the central vertical section TVC.

Each lower end 23G, 23D of a strap 24G, 24D is here fixed in a lower and lateral end portion belonging to the lower horizontal section TH4 and the lateral vertical section TVG and TVD respectively.

The end 19AV of the front closing element 20AV is fixed on the exterior face of the front central portion of the complementary panel 18, inside the third horizontal section TH3 (starting from the open upper end 30 of the bag of races 10) which is delimited by the two horizontal folding lines LH2 and LH3.

Like the end 19AR of the rear closing element 20AR, the end 19AV of the front closing element 20AV is fixed inside the central vertical section TVC, substantially in the middle of the latter.

The length of the strap constituting the front closing element must for this purpose allow the buckle 32AV to be positioned at the level of the second horizontal section TH2.

As we can see in the , after having made the appropriate folds along the different horizontal and vertical folding lines, the closing system 20AV, 20AR makes it possible to maintain the shopping bag 10 folded in a wallet

Preferably, to arrive at this final folded state, the folding can be carried out according to successive steps 1 to 5 represented schematically in the .

Step 1
A folding is carried out along the first upper horizontal folding line LH1, by folding the upper horizontal section TH1 onto the exterior face of the second horizontal section TH2 of the front flat part PPAV;
and another folding is carried out along the third horizontal line LH3, by folding the lower horizontal section TH4 on the exterior face of the third horizontal section TH3 of the rear flat part PPAR.

2nd step
Then, the two horizontal sections TH4 and TH3, now superimposed, are folded together along the horizontal line LH2, over the two horizontal sections TH1 and TH2 previously superimposed.
The four horizontal sections are then superimposed, from bottom to top, in the following order: TH1, TH2, TH4 and TH3.

Step 3
The folding is then continued by successively carrying out, on the same flat part, two folds along the vertical folding lines LVG then LVD, or LVD then LVG.

Step 4
The bag is then folded into a wallet with the two parts 20AV and 20AR of the closure system correctly adjusted and positioned to allow the closure of the closure system by bringing together and engaging the two complementary buckles 32AR and 32AV.

Step 5
The two complementary buckles are then engaged and the closure system 20 makes it possible to maintain the shopping bag 10 in its final folded state in the wallet.

Step 1bis
A first folding is carried out along the third horizontal folding line LH3, by folding the lower horizontal section TH4 on the exterior face of the third horizontal section TH3 of the rear flat part PPAR;
and a second folding is then carried out along the second horizontal line LH2, by folding the second horizontal section TH2 onto the exterior face of the fourth horizontal section TH4 previously folded.

Step 2bis
Then, the first horizontal section TH1 is folded around the first horizontal folding line LH1.
The four horizontal sections are then superimposed, from bottom to top, in the following order: TH1, TH2, TH4 and TH3.

The following Steps 3bis, 4bis and 5bis are analogous to Steps 3, 4 and 5 respectively.

According to a variant, in known manner, the bottom 14 of the shopping bag 10 can be reinforced by a rigid or semi-rigid plate of the same dimensions which, like the bottom 14, has a median transverse fold allowing its simultaneous folding with the bottom 14 to ensure the bellows arrangement.

Claims (16)
