L'invention concerne un procédé pour la détermination du sens de rotation d’une roue d’un véhicule automobile, ledit véhicule comportant au moins une roue qui est équipée d’un pneumatique, et une unité roue comportant au moins un capteur qui est adapté pour délivrer un signal d’accélération représentatif de l’accélération tangentielle de la roue, ledit signal présentant un motif par tour de roue chaque motif dessinant un pic d’accélération de signe positif et un pic d’accélération de signe négatif opposé, caractérisé en ce qu’il comprend une pluralité d’étapes pour déterminer le sens de rotation de la roue qui correspond au signe du premier pic d’accélération si la première durée (T1) est inférieure à la seconde durée (T2), ou au signe du second pic d’accélération si la seconde durée (T2) est inférieure à la première durée (T1).
