Abstract

The specific opening device on an outer garment allows people with a digestive and / or urinary stoma to easily and quickly access their ostomy pouch. The skin and tissue protection system reassures them that their clothing will not be stained by fluids from a possible leakage of the stoma. The aesthetic side of the clothes helps to restore their self-confidence, to regain their self-esteem and helps them to reintegrate more easily into their family, social and professional environment. This technicality is also applicable to clothing intended for people suffering from other alterations in the body image at the abdominal level requiring easy and quick access: for example, abdominal drain on wounds that do not heal. These clothes, combining beauty, aesthetics, elegance and practicality, are available in all styles of clothing, from evening wear to city and sports attire. They can be made in series in sewing workshops.

Physical appearance and clothing play a very important role in our society. Clothing plays a major role here. Indeed, the garment sticks to our body, it is like a second skin. We choose it according to our personality, our moods, the weather, but also professional constraints. It gives us confidence and protects us, not only from climatic aggressions, but also from others. Clothing gives rhythm to our lives and helps us to be who we are. People who have undergone surgery that alters their body image (e.g. digestive stomas, urinary stomas), suffer from this new physical appearance and often can no longer dress as they could before the disease. They should opt for commercial clothing that does not compress the stoma and that allows access to their stoma pouch. This restricts the supply. From a clothing gestural point of view, they must either raise or lower a skirt/trousers/shorts to access the ostomy pouch while being careful that the garment does not fall or fall on the feet. If there is a leak at the base of the ostomy bag, the garment is stained and must be washed at high temperature. Moreover, we see that some of these people withdraw into themselves and avoid any social relationship, for fear of facing the gaze of the other.

So I had this idea of creating clothes combining beauty, aesthetics, elegance and practicality to allow people with a digestive and/or urinary stoma easy and quick access to their stoma bag, without the need to pull up a dress, lower a skirt or trousers, by a system of specific openings made by invisible or visible zippers depending on the style of the garment, transverse and/or by the presence of an elastic band at the waist and side zippers.

This technique is suitable for skirts, pants, shorts and dresses.

The openings can be placed on both sides or just one side depending on the placement of the stoma or stomas, left side or right side.

1. La face en 100% coton est positionnée du côté de la peau de la personne pour éviter toute irritation de la peau et permet d’absorber les liquides pouvant provenir de la stomie si le socle de la poche de la stomie se décolle en provoquant des fuites.
2. La face plastifiée est du côté de la doublure du vêtement au niveau des ouvertures pour protéger le vêtement d’éventuelles tâches dues à des liquides provenant de la stomie si le socle de la poche de la stomie se décolle en provoquant des fuites.

Deux systèmes possibles :
Système d’ouverture avec élastique :cf. croquis 1, 3, 4, 5 et 2.
Une bande élastique d’un cm de largeur avec 3 boutonnières à l’une de ses extrémités est fixée à l’intérieur de la jupe ou du pantalon en fonction de la position de la stomie côté gauche ou côté droit. Une extrémité de la bande élastique est cousue à un cm de l’extrémité de la fermeture à glissière invisible côté dos de la jupe. L’autre extrémité avec 3 boutonnières pour régler la longueur de la bande élastique est boutonnée à un bouton posé côté dos de la jupe à un cm de l’extrémité de la fermeture à glissière.
Les deux fermetures à glissière invisibles peuvent être posées dans le prolongement des coutures latérales cf. croquis 1 et 3.
Elles peuvent être posées sur le devant de la jupe à 2 cm de chaque côté des coutures latérale. Cf. croquis 4 et 5.
Ainsi la personne ouvre les fermetures à glissière et accède facilement et rapidement à sa poche de stomie. La jupe ou le pantalon est retenu(e) à la taille par la bande élastique. Cf. croquis 3.
Si la protection est tâchée, ladite protection peut être facilement ôtée et remplacée par la personne grâce aux boutons pression.
Ce système d’ouverture avec bande élastique s’adapte à une jupe, pantalon et short.
Système d’ouverture sans élastique :
Une fermeture à glissière transversale est posée (fermeture invisible) au niveau de la taille. Une autre est posée en prolongation de la couture latérale. L’ouverture est placée en fonction du positionnement de la stomie côté gauche ou côté droit.
Le système de protection est identique au système d’ouverture avec élastique. Cf. croquis 6 et 7
Pour enfiler aisément la robe, l’ouverture de celle-ci (fermeture à glissière) est au dos de la robe ou bien sur le côté opposé de la fermeture à glissière invisible permettant d’accéder à la poche de stomie.
Ce système d’ouverture sans élastique s’adapte à une jupe et un pantalon. Dans ce cas, la fermeture à glissière invisible est placée au niveau de la couture entre l’enforme de la jupe et/ou du pantalon et le bas de la jupe et/ou du pantalon Cf croquis 8 et 9. Pour enfiler le vêtement (jupe et pantalon), l’ouverture de la jupe et du pantalon est située soit sur le côté opposé de la fermeture à glissière invisible permettant d’accéder à la poche de stomie, soit au dos de la jupe et du pantalon.

A 2-sided protection made up of two types of fabric (cotton and plastic) described below (a, b) is fixed by press studs on the lining of the garment or on the back of the garment if the latter does not have of lining. This protection is removable and washable at 60°.

Two possible systems:
Opening system with elastic: cf. sketches 1, 3, 4, 5 and 2.
An elastic band one cm wide with 3 buttonholes at one of its ends is attached to the inside of the skirt or pants depending on the position of the stoma on the left or right side. One end of the elastic band is sewn one cm from the end of the invisible zipper on the back side of the skirt. The other end with 3 buttonholes to adjust the length of the elastic band is buttoned to a button on the back side of the skirt one cm from the end of the zipper.
The two invisible zippers can be placed in line with the side seams cf. sketches 1 and 3.
They can be placed on the front of the skirt 2 cm on each side of the side seams. See sketches 4 and 5.
Thus the person opens the zippers and easily and quickly accesses his ostomy bag. The skirt or pants are held at the waist by the elastic band. See sketch 3.
If the protection is stained, said protection can be easily removed and replaced by the person thanks to the press studs.
This opening system with elastic band adapts to a skirt, pants and shorts.
Opening system without elastic:
A transverse zipper is placed (invisible zipper) at the waist. Another is placed in extension of the side seam. The opening is placed according to the positioning of the stoma on the left side or the right side.
The protection system is identical to the opening system with elastic. See sketches 6 and 7
To easily put on the robe, the opening of the robe (zipper) is on the back of the robe or on the opposite side of the invisible zipper allowing access to the ostomy pouch.
This opening system without elastic adapts to a skirt and pants. In this case, the invisible zipper is placed at the level of the seam between the shape of the skirt and/or the pants and the bottom of the skirt and/or the pants See sketches 8 and 9. To put on the garment ( skirt and pants), the skirt and pants opening is located either on the opposite side of the invisible zipper to access the ostomy pouch, or on the back of the skirt and pants.
