Description

Cardboard lid for container

The invention relates to a lid for a container, in particular disposable, for example a cup for cold or hot drinks, etc.

It is known to close a paper cup, of the type used in fast food restaurants to contain cold or hot drinks, with a plastic lid. This lid allows the end customer to move around, holding their cup in one hand or carrying it on a tray, without risking spilling the contents of this cup, even if the cup is temporarily knocked over on the tray.

Figure 1 shows an example of a cup plus lid assembly according to the prior art. This set 1 comprises a compact cardboard cup 2 and a plastic lid 3. The compact cardboard cup comprises a circular bottom and a frustoconical wall extending between the circular bottom and a circular upper circumference on which the lid 3 is fixed. More specifically, the cup 2 defines a bead about 1 mm thick on its upper periphery, and the lid 3 comprises a skirt defining lugs or a bulge capable of being wedged under the bead of the cup 2, thus ensuring the fixing of the cover 3 to this cup 2.

It may be noted that this attachment is not necessarily waterproof: if an end user holds the cup plus lid assembly upside down, it is possible that liquid will escape; on the other hand, this attachment is sufficient to retain the liquid when the assembly is driven in motion, for example when moving and/or in the event of occasional spillage (less than 10 seconds) on the cup support.

There is a need for a different container content protection.

A set including:

- a container comprising a bottom and a set of at least one wall erected relative to this bottom and extending from the bottom to an upper edge, said set of at least one wall surrounding the bottom so that the container can receive content, said at least one upper edge forming a closed upper perimeter, and at least a part of at least one wall of said game being, at least in the vicinity of said closed upper perimeter, flared with respect to the bottom,

- a cover device comprising a blocking member comprising at least one element made from at least one sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material, said blocking element, said blocking member having a circumference shaped so that said blocking member comes hang over at least part of its circumference, called the contact zone, against the clearance of at least one wall, at the level of the vicinity of the closed upper periphery, when the lid device is pushed into the container.

It is thus possible to push the cover device into the container, towards the bottom, until this locking member comes to be blocked by its periphery against the inner face(s) of the flared wall(s) of the this container. The installation of the cover device is thus relatively easy to carry out.

This cooperation between the blocking member, made from at least one sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material, and the wall(s) can thus make it possible to retain the contents of the container, in particular when the assembly is driven in moving relatively slowly, for example when moving in a restaurant or on the street, and/or temporarily knocked over on its support (for example for less than 10 seconds).

We thus come to take advantage of the flared shape of the container to fix the lid device, also called lid.

By flared we mean of course that widens from the bottom upwards, the bottom and the top being defined when the container is placed by its bottom on a flat horizontal support and considering that gravity carries the objects from the top down.

With regard to the container, a single wall, closed on itself, or alternatively several walls secured to each other in a leaktight manner or not, so as to be able to retain the contents, can be provided.

The set of at least one wall can surround the bottom in a sealed manner, for example in a sealed junction, so that the container can receive a liquid content.

Alternatively, and in particular in the case of a container intended to receive a solid content, for example a salad, or other, the set of at least one wall can surround the bottom in a non-sealed manner.

The container may for example comprise packaging made of rigid or semi-rigid material(s), such as cardboard or corrugated cardboard.

The container may be made from a single blank, in particular in the case of cardboard packaging for solid contents, or from several blanks.

The container may for example comprise a polygonal bottom, for example rectangular, to which are articulated by rectilinear fold lines at least three walls.

In one embodiment, the bottom circumference may include at least one non-straight portion. For example, a circular, elliptical or other bottom can be provided.

Advantageously, the set of at least one wall may have been assembled to the bottom on its circumference, so as to surround said bottom, preferably in a sealed manner.

The container can for example be a bowl to receive a soup, a salad, or other, a cup to receive a hot liquid, a cup to receive a cold liquid, a cup or a bucket to receive an ice cream, a packaging from a blank or plastic for solid content, or other.

The closed upper periphery of the container may have a continuous tangent, and have for example an elliptical or circular shape, or alternatively define angles. In particular, the container can define lines of folds erected with respect to the bottom and/or assemblies of walls, so that the tangent vector to the perimeter sometimes varies abruptly: the perimeter can for example have a polygonal shape, for example octagonal or square.

The at least one wall can have a height between 5 cm and 40 cm for example, advantageously between 7 cm and 25 cm.

By vicinity, we mean over a height of at least 5 mm, advantageously at least 1 cm, advantageously at least 2 cm. The container can for example be flared over more than half of, and advantageously over the whole of, the height of the wall.

Provision may be made for the wall(s) not to be flared over 360°, but only over part of the upper circumference.

The flared wall(s) in the vicinity of the upper periphery can advantageously form a frustoconical surface, of any directing curve, advantageously circular, but alternatively elliptical, rectangular, octagonal or other, and of axis advantageously normal to the bottom or alternatively oblique to the bottom.

The container can advantageously be made at least partly, and advantageously entirely, of cardboard, for example of compact and/or corrugated cardboard. In particular, the walls of the container can be made of cardboard, advantageously compact, and advantageously define a bead over their entire upper periphery.

The invention is in no way limited to cardboard containers, nor even to disposable containers. One could for example provide a plastic container, advantageously reusable. This container may for example be devoid of a bead on its upper periphery.

The bottom may for example have a larger dimension, for example a diameter, of between 2 cm and 20 cm, advantageously between 4 cm and 15 cm.

As regards the cover device, the invention is not limited to a particular shape of the blocking member, provided that it can be blocked over at least part of its circumference, against the wall or walls. (s) of the container.

For example, provision can be made for at least part of the circumference of the blocking member, corresponding to the zone(s) of contact with the wall(s) of the container, to have the shape of an outline of a section of the container in the vicinity of the closed upper rim.

For example, it can be provided that over more than 185°, advantageously over at least 270° and advantageously over the entire circumference (360°), the circumference has the shape of an outline of a section of the container in the vicinity of the circumference upper closed.

For example, the locking member may have a circular circumference over more than 300°, for example over 360°.

This locking member may have an elliptical shape, for example in the case of a container with an elliptical bottom and whose sections along planes parallel to the plane of the bottom, at least at the level of the vicinity of the upper perimeter, are elliptical, or else again in the case of a container with a circular bottom and whose sections along planes parallel to the plane of the bottom, at least at the level of the vicinity of the upper circumference, are circular. In the latter case, provision may be made to tilt the blocking member during introduction into the container.

According to yet another example, this blocking member may have a polygonal circumference, for example rectangular, octagonal, or other. A polygonal panel can indeed come to hang on its entire circumference against the walls of a polygonal container and of complementary shape, or even on its vertices against the walls of a container of circular section.

The section of the container in the vicinity of the closed upper periphery having the same shape as at least part of the circumference of the blocking member can be taken in a plane parallel to the plane of the bottom of the container, or else alternatively in a plane oblique relative to the ground plane. In the case of an oblique plane, an angle of less than 45° can be provided with respect to the bottom plane in order to limit the size associated with the cover, advantageously less than 30°, advantageously less than 10°.

It is possible to provide a single contact zone, or even several separate contact zones, for example two contact zones, between three and six contact zones, or even more, for example more than ten contact zones.

In the case of a container with a circular section and a blocking member with a circular circumference, of the disc type, cut with a blade, the contact zone can occupy 360°, possibly a little less, for example between 300 and 355 °, in particular when the locking member is not entirely circular in the sense that its circumference defines a flat at the level of a fold line (as in the examples of figures 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 ).

In the case of a container with a circular section and a blocking member with a polygonal circumference, the contact zones can be relatively isolated, that is to say that they each occupy a restricted angular range, for example between 0° (theoretical case of a point-surface contact without any crushing) and 5°, for example between 0.5° and 2°.

In one embodiment, provision may be made for the blocking member to come from a cutout with a hand-safety net or another tool, for example serrated scissors, making it possible to obtain a wavy or triangular cutout. The contact zones can then be very numerous, relatively specific and close to each other. It is for example possible to provide a pitch of 1 to 5 millimeters, for example of the order of 2 millimeters, between two adjacent contact zones.

For example, in the case of a circular container whose upper circumference has a diameter of 5.5 cm and a disk 5 cm in diameter cut with an anti-cut hand net with a pitch of 2 millimeters, we should have about 78 contact areas.

In the case of a relatively flexible material, the use of such a tool (anti-cut hand net, serrated scissors, etc.) can provide some cushioning before blocking, due to deformations of the circumference of the material. the blocking member, thus making it possible to absorb the clearances and tolerances of the cup.

The number of contact zones can of course be smaller.

It is for example possible to provide a disk with at least two flats opposite one another, defining between them at least two contact zones.

It is also possible to provide recesses more subsequent than flats, for example semi-circular recesses facilitating the introduction of a finger or a straw, recesses each occupying at least 10%, 20%, or 30% of the cross-sectional area of the container in the blocking plane, or other.

In one embodiment, the blocking member can for example be cut from a sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material, so that its circumference has an X (cross), Y, or other shape. Only the ends of the branches of the X or the Y come into contact with the walls of the container during blocking.

Advantageously, provision can be made for the angular range between two adjacent contact zones, or in the case of a single contact zone, between the ends of this contact zone while being outside the contact zone, to be strictly lower at 180° in order to avoid tilting, advantageously less than 150°, advantageously less than 120°, advantageously less than 115°, advantageously less than 90°, advantageously less than 45°, advantageously less than 30°, advantageously less than 20 °.

For example, a Y can be provided with the following angular ranges between the branches: 110°, 140°, 110°.

Provision can be made, in particular when all of the recesses occupy more than 10% of the area of the section of the container in the blocking plane, to double the blocking member with a protective member preventing (or limiting) the contents of the container to come out through the recesses. This protective member may for example comprise a panel made of a rigid or semi-rigid material, a sheet of plastic, or the like.

Advantageously, the blocking member can be in one piece, for example in the shape of a disc, ring, X, Y or other, that is to say it comprises a single blocking element .

Alternatively, provision could be made for the blocking member to comprise several separate blocking elements, for example three or four strip-shaped blocking elements glued in a star shape (so as to form a Y or an X) to a disk so that the ends of these band-shaped elements protrude beyond the circumference of this disk and thus provide locking against the walls of the container.

Advantageously, it is possible to provide separate blocking elements that are separate from each other, assembled, for example by gluing, to the rest of the cover device without occupying the center of the cover device. By thus arranging the blocking elements only at the periphery of the lid, it is possible to provide other functionalities in the center, in particular an opening for a straw.

The sheet(s) of rigid or semi-rigid material used to form the element and/or the blocking member may comprise a sheet of cardboard, for example corrugated cardboard or compact cardboard, in which case the cover device may be more environmentally friendly than prior art lids, plastic, or the like.

It is advantageous to provide an element and/or blocking member made of corrugated cardboard, because this material can be relatively rigid, so that the risk of the blocking member buckling is reduced.

The blocking element and/or member may for example be made from at least one sheet of corrugated cardboard, for example single-sided, double-sided, double-double-sided or other corrugated cardboard.

It is possible to provide a groove thickness of at least 1.5 mm, advantageously of at least two millimeters, in particular in the case of single-sided or double-sided corrugated cardboard.

In the case of a double sided corrugated cardboard sheet, the flute thickness can be less, for example 0.8 mm or more.

The blocking member can for example be obtained by cutting one (or more) sheet of corrugated cardboard.

The blocking member may comprise a single thickness of corrugated cardboard, or alternatively several. In particular, it is possible to superimpose several portions of corrugated cardboard in order to form this member.

The locking member may have a thickness of 1.5 mm or more, for example 1.7 mm or more.

The blocking member can be solid or hollow.

Advantageously, the blocking is effected by the thickness of the sheet or sheets of rigid or semi-rigid material forming the blocking element(s).

Advantageously, the circumference of the locking element may comprise one or more edges of the locking element or elements.

Advantageously, the blocking member can be arranged so that its element or elements derived from at least one sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material define one or more planes normal to the same direction. In other words, the blocking member may be devoid of fold lines which would separate two flat elements forming between them an angle which is not zero and different from 180°. The blocking member can for example comprise one or more blocking element(s) in the same plane or superimposed.

This direction, normal to the plane(s) of the blocking element(s), can for example be the direction normal to the plane of the bottom of the container, called the vertical direction, or another direction.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting manner, the lid device may also comprise at least one gripping member made from a sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material such as compact or corrugated cardboard, for example glued and/or hinged to the blocking device. This gripping member can thus facilitate handling of the cover device, and in particular its removal from the container.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting manner, the lid device may also comprise at least one retention member, advantageously made from a sheet of rigid or semi-rigid material such as compact or corrugated cardboard (for example glued and/or hinged to the blocking member), and shaped and arranged so as to come into abutment against at least part of the upper periphery of the container when the blocking member is blocked and/or, when the blocking member is blocked, the cover device is pushed into the container towards the bottom.

In one embodiment, this gripping member and/or this retention member can be derived from blank(s) distinct from the blank of at least one blocking element.

The gripping member and/or the retention member can be assembled, directly or not, to this blocking member, for example by gluing.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting manner, this gripping member and/or this retention member can be made from the same blank as at least one locking element.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting way, this gripping member and/or this retention member can comprise a flap made of rigid or semi-rigid material, the cover device being arranged so that this flap can be erected relative to the blocking device.

For example, the cover device may comprise a fold line or several fold lines articulating the flap to the blocking member or to an element glued to the blocking member, for example at least two parallel fold lines between them articulating the blocking member to the flap.

In particular, the lid device may comprise a flap made of rigid or semi-rigid material raised relative to the blocking element(s). The flap thus above the planes of the blocking element(s) can thus form a gripping member.

The flap can be hinged to the blocking member, directly or indirectly, by at least one fold line.

The shutter can be part of the same blank as at least one locking element, in which case this shutter can be hinged, directly or indirectly, to the locking element.

In one embodiment, the shutter can be hinged to an additional superimposed element and assembled to the blocking member, for example glued to the blocking member.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting way, the flap can define at least one free edge facing the blocking member, capable of coming into abutment, over its thickness, against the upper periphery of the container.

A contour of the flap can for example define with a contour of the blocking member a hollow, so that a part of this contour of the flap is opposite a part of the contour of the blocking member.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting way, in the case of a locking element with a curved periphery, for example a disc, hinged to another panel, to a flap, and/or other, provision may be made to extend at least one line of fold between this panel, flap or other and the blocking element by a cutout and/or to define at least one recess at this fold line in order to limit the forces exerted by a folding along a fold line curve.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting way, the cover device can comprise an element made of additional rigid or semi-rigid material, this additional element being superimposable on the blocking member.

In the case of one (or more of course) corrugated cardboard blocking element and an additional corrugated cardboard element, it is possible for example to provide that their grooves form an angle, for example of 90°, in order to further stiffen lid.

This additional element may have a circumference adapted to also come to block against the wall or walls of the container, that is to say that it participates in the blocking.

Alternatively, provision may be made for a circumference that is identical to or less off-centered than that of the blocking member in order to be able to take up any play associated with lateral offsets when this additional element is superimposed on the blocking member.

In one embodiment, at least part of, and advantageously all, the periphery of this additional element can be offset laterally beyond the periphery of the blocking member, for example by more than 3 mm, advantageously between 5 mm and 4 cm, when this additional element is superimposed on the blocking member, so as to come into abutment against the upper periphery of the container when the blocking member is blocked against the wall(s) of the container, and/or when , the blocking member being blocked, the cover device is pushed further into the container towards the bottom.

The vicinity of this periphery (of the additional element) can be directly above the upper periphery and come into abutment against this periphery in the event of depression of the cover beyond a depth corresponding to the blocking of the blocking or when this depth is reached, thus forming a retaining rim.

When the blocking member locks, the retaining rim can thus be in contact with the upper periphery or even be above this periphery, provided that it does not prevent the blocking.

The cover device may be devoid of elements which would retain the blocking member when the cover device is pushed into the container to such a depth that said blocking member is not yet blocked.

In addition, the user can grasp this periphery, in particular if the additional element defines a tongue extending laterally still beyond the rest of the periphery, thus forming a gripping member.

In one embodiment, the cover device may comprise a plurality of additional elements made of rigid or semi-rigid material, at least one of which is sandwiched between the blocking member and the additional element, the periphery of which is offset laterally beyond the periphery of the blocking member. This sandwiched element thus makes it possible to offset the retaining rim upwards, and therefore to further push the element(s) locking against the wall(s), which contributes to the stability of the cover. An angle may be provided between the grooves.

In another embodiment, the additional element, the periphery of which is offset laterally beyond the periphery of the blocking member, can be directly on a blocking element of this member. In particular, provision may be made for a blocking element cut from a sheet of relatively thick corrugated cardboard, for example more than 2 mm thick and/or double fluted. This choice of a double fluted corrugated cardboard can be particularly interesting because of the number of sheets: it is possible to provide a corrugated cardboard element with five, or even four sheets, rather than two elements with three (or more) sheets each as in the case of a sandwiched element. You also save on assembly.

The additional element can be secured to the blocking member.

At least one additional element can come from a blank distinct from the blank of at least one blocking element.

At least one additional element can come from the same blank as at least one blocking element.

Thus, these different elements can come from the same blank and be hinged to each other (directly or not), or not. We can for example provide a fixing by gluing, or other, in particular in the case of separate blanks, but also in the case of a joint between elements from the same blank.

The blocking element can for example be solid, so as to prevent the content from coming out, but the invention is in no way limited to solid blocking elements. For example, this blocking element can be hollowed out and fixed to a closing panel (for example an additional element as described above, a sheet of film-coated paper to be removed, or other), comprise one or more cutouts defining a passage for a straw, etc.

Provision may be made for the cover device to define a curved cutout for the passage of a straw, for example in the blocking element, in the additional element, and/or other.

This cutout can be closed on itself so as to define a recess, which can for example be covered with film-coated paper, a sheet of metal, plastic, or the like.

Alternatively, a straight fold line can extend between the ends of the curved cutout, so as to define with this cutout a hinged flap. The user can rotate this flap by inserting a straw into it, or alternatively leave it in the plane of an element of the lid, thus providing relative protection against splashes.

The cover device can be made entirely of rigid or semi-rigid material, or else of rigid or semi-rigid material such as corrugated cardboard and at least one other material, for example aluminum, coated paper, plastic, or other.

Advantageously and in a non-limiting way, the cover device can comprise a marking element to indicate the nature of the contents of the container. This marking element can be obtained by printing, cutting, grooving, and/or other.

For example, this marking element may comprise an articulated fin, to fold up according to the contents of the container. Folding can be down or up.

It is also possible to provide an indication of the content, for example "sugar-free soda", for example printed, for example on the lid device near the marking element (in which case several marking elements can be provided) or else on the container. In the latter case, an operator positions the cover device so that the marking element is above the desired indication.

There is also proposed a blank of rigid or semi-rigid material capable of forming a lid device intended for a container, the container comprising a bottom and a set of at least one wall erected with respect to this bottom and extending from the bottom to an upper edge, said set of at least one wall surrounding the bottom so that the container can receive a content, said at least one upper edge forming a closed upper perimeter, and at least part of at at least one wall of said gap being, at least in a vicinity of said closed upper periphery, flared with respect to the bottom, said blank comprising at least one element, called blocking element, this at least one element being able to form a blocking member having a circumference shaped so that said blocking member is blocked over at least part of said circumference, called the contact zone, against the play of at least one wall, at the level of the vicinity of the closed upper periphery, when the cover device is pushed into the container.

The blank may for example comprise an element whose circumference has the shape, over at least 180°, of an outline of a section of the container in the vicinity of the closed upper periphery.

The blank can be made from a sheet of compact or corrugated cardboard, a sheet of rigid or flexible plastic, or other.

In the present application, by "under", "upper", "lower", "below", etc., reference is made to a situation of use in which the container is placed by its bottom on a flat horizontal support in order to to receive content. But of course, the container plus cover assembly can be turned over and handled in various ways, and in addition the cover alone can also be stored or handled with various orientations.

There is also proposed a method for installing a lid device made of rigid or semi-rigid material on a container, the container comprising a bottom and a set of at least one wall erected with respect to this bottom and extending from the bottom to an upper edge, said set of at least one wall surrounding the bottom so that the container can receive a content, said at least one upper edge forming a closed upper perimeter, and at least a part of at least one wall of said game being, at least in a vicinity of said closed upper periphery, flared with respect to the bottom, and the cover device comprising a blocking member comprising at least one element resulting from at least one sheet of rigid material or semi-rigid, said blocking element., the method comprising a step consisting in driving said cover device into the container until said blocking member comes to block, over at least part of its periphery, against the or the container wall(s).

In order to facilitate reading, identical references may be used from one figure to another to designate identical or similar elements, in their form or their function.

Referring to Figure 2, the corrugated cardboard blank 10 comprises a locking member 11, here in one piece, circular, and said disc, intended to be inserted into a tapered cup with a circular base.

A curved cutout 17 and a fold line 18 defined in the disc 11 and forming a closed line define an articulated flap 19 allowing the passage of a straw.

Two flaps 12, 12' opposite each other are each hinged to disc 11 at the periphery 14 of this disc 11.

The disk 11 being circular, its periphery is curved. Also, in order to limit the forces caused by the rotation of the flaps 12, 12', these flaps 12, 12' define recesses 13, 13' adjoining the periphery 14 of the disc 11, and in addition, each hinge line 15, 16, 15', 16' on either side of the corresponding recess 13, 13', articulating the corresponding flap 12, 12' to the disc 11 extends into a cutout 25, 26, 25', 26' separating the disk 11 of the corresponding flap 12, 12'.

Opposite the recess 13, 13' and the junction 15, 25, 16, 26, 15', 25', 16', 26', a fold line 20, 20' makes it possible to fold a part of 'end 21, 21' of the flap 12, 12' thus making it possible to limit the height of the cup assembly (advantageously filled) plus cover. This limits the size associated with this set, which can be particularly interesting in the context of a delivery.

More specifically, each fold line 20, 20' separates the corresponding flap 12, 12' into an end part 21, 21' and into an offset part 27, 27' hinged to element 11.

In this example, the end parts 21, 21' extend laterally beyond the corresponding offset parts 27, 27', thus defining free edges 22, 23, 22', 23' opposite the disc 11.

According to a variant not shown, the flaps may be devoid of fold lines. In this case, it is possible, for example, to provide flaps of similar shape, T-shaped, defining free edges facing the disk.

As illustrated by FIG. 3, when the cover device 10' from the blank 10 is pushed into the cup 30, the flaps 12, 12' pushed by the wall 31 of the cup 30 pivot around the fold lines 15, 16, 15 ', 16', raising them relative to disc 11.

More specifically, the rims 22, 23, 22', 23' come into abutment against the upper rim 32 of the cup.

At the same time, the circumference of the disc 11 is blocked against the walls of the cup.
