L’invention concerne un réducteur (150) pour un démarreur de moteur thermique, le réducteur (150) comprenant au moins une couronne dentée (151) qui comporte au moins un périmètre interne (201) pourvu de dents (152) et au moins un périmètre externe (200), le périmètre interne (201) délimitant un espace (157), le réducteur comprenant au moins un palier fixe (153) configuré pour être traversé par un arbre d’entrainement (140) du démarreur, au moins un porte-satellites (154) configuré pour être solidaire en rotation de l’arbre d’entrainement (140) du démarreur, au moins deux satellites (155) engrenés entre la couronne dentée (151) et un pignon (156) configuré pour être solidaire en rotation d’un arbre d’un rotor (123) d’un moteur électrique du démarreur, au moins le porte-satellites (154), les deux satellites (155) et le pignon (156) étant reçus dans l’espace (157) délimité, au moins partiellement, par le périmètre interne (201) de la couronne dentée (151), le réducteur (150) comprenant au moins un capot (170) qui ferme au moins partiellement l’espace (157), caractérisé en ce que le capot (170) couvre radialement au moins le périmètre externe (200) de la couronne dentée (151).
