The invention relates to display devices which are intended to be installed in the front part of a vehicle interior.

Certain vehicles, generally of the automobile type, include a passenger compartment which can accommodate a driver and a passenger in a front part, and provide functionalities which can be controlled via the touch screen of a display device, for example installed in or on the dashboard.

Currently, the touch screen displays a home page comprising thumbnails (or thumbnails (or “widgets”)) which are representative of functions provided by the vehicle and controllable by the driver or passenger, and of controls for these. features. Some of these functions are general and concern both the driver and the passenger, such as those relating to comfort in the vehicle or to map information, others relate specifically to the driver, such as those relating to driving and operation of the vehicle, and still others specifically concern the passenger, such as those relating to entertainment (music, video) or to the co-piloting of the vehicle or to telematics.

The greater the number of functions controllable by the driver or the passenger, the greater the number of thumbnails contained in a displayed home page, and therefore the more difficult and time consuming it is to quickly determine the thumbnail that the we want to touch. In addition, the smaller the screen size, the more difficult and time consuming the thumbnail search will be at constant number of thumbnails. In addition, the longer the search for a thumbnail, the more dangerous it is when it is carried out by the driver of the vehicle, since it requires him to look at the touch screen and therefore stop observing. the environment in front of his vehicle for its entire duration.

In certain vehicles, the display device can be arranged so as to allow at least one of the users to configure the displayed home page. However, this type of configuration is rarely simple or intuitive and / or quick to perform by a person who is not used to it, often requires several modifications, and is not very ergonomic due to the leaning position that must take the user. As a result, the home page configuration option is generally used very little.

The invention therefore aims in particular to improve the situation.

To this end, it notably offers a display device, on the one hand, intended to equip a vehicle providing functionalities and comprising a passenger compartment comprising a front part which can accommodate a driver and a passenger, and, on the other hand, comprising:

- a touch screen, intended to be installed in the front part in an area accessible to the driver and passenger, and displaying pages of thumbnails representative of these functionalities and of controls thereof, and

- at least one computer triggering access to the functionality or command associated with an affected thumbnail.

This display device is characterized by the fact that its computer controls the display on the screen of a first home page containing thumbnails associated with general functions, relating to the driver and passenger, and / or a second home page containing thumbnails associated with features relating to the driver and / or a third home page containing thumbnails associated with features relating to the passenger depending on whether person or the driver and / or the passenger has (have ) been recognized.

Thanks to the invention, the number of thumbnails displayed on the screen is significantly reduced, and therefore the driver or passenger can easily and quickly search for the thumbnail that interests him in the home page dedicated to him and which is displayed for him if he has been recognized.

The display device according to the invention may include other characteristics which can be taken separately or in combination, and in particular:

- its computer can recognize the driver or passenger in at least one way chosen from a predefined action on the screen, visual identification by a camera located in the front part of the passenger compartment, and identification of an identifier d 'communication equipment previously registered;

- in the absence of prior reconfiguration, the second home page can include thumbnails which are associated with functionalities relating to the driving and operation of the vehicle, and the third home page can include thumbnails which are associated with functionalities relating to comfort in the vehicle, entertainment and co-piloting of the vehicle, and telematics;

- its calculator can control the selective display on the screen of the first, second and third home pages that are visually differentiable;

The invention also provides a vehicle, possibly of the automobile type, providing functionality and comprising a passenger compartment, comprising a front part which can accommodate a driver and a passenger, and a display device of the type presented above and installed in this front part.

The object of the invention is in particular to propose a display device

DA intended to be installed in the front part PA of a passenger compartment H of a vehicle V providing controllable functionalities, in order to display in particular home pages dedicated to the driver and the front passenger.

In what follows, it is considered, by way of nonlimiting example, that vehicle V is of the automobile type. This is for example a car, as illustrated in Figure 1. But the invention is not limited to this type of vehicle. It relates in fact to any type of vehicle comprising a passenger compartment which can accommodate a driver and a passenger in a front part, and ensuring functionalities which can be controlled via the touch screen of a display device. Thus, the invention relates at least to land vehicles and aircraft.

There is diagrammatically shown in FIG. 1 an example of a vehicle (here automobile) V comprising a passenger compartment H, comprising a front part PA which can accommodate a driver and a passenger, and a display device DA according to the invention.

Note that in the example illustrated without limitation in Figure 1 the vehicle V is left-hand drive, and therefore the driver's seat and the steering wheel are installed on the left while the passenger seat is installed on the right. However, vehicle V could be right-hand drive and in this case the driver's seat and the steering wheel are installed on the right while the passenger seat is installed on the left.

Furthermore, in the example illustrated without limitation in FIG. 1, the display device DA according to the invention is installed in or on the dashboard PB of the vehicle V which is located in front of the driver and passenger seats. For example, this DA display device is what is frequently called a central multifunction screen or central display. But in a variant, the DA display device according to the invention could be installed in a central console installed in an area located between the spaces for receiving the legs of the driver and the passenger, in the extension towards the rear of the board on board PB.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, a display device DA, according to the invention, comprises a display screen EA, of the touch type, and at least one computer CA.

The screen (display) EA is intended to be installed in the front part PA in an area which is accessible to the driver and the passenger (here in or on the dashboard PB), and to display pages of thumbnails (or thumbnails (or widgets)), which are representative of the functions provided by the vehicle V and controllable, and of commands for these functions.

As indicated in the introductory part, the functionalities can be broadly divided into three groups: those which are general and therefore concern both the driver and the passenger, those which specifically concern the driver and those which specifically concern the passenger. For example, the general functionalities may relate to comfort in vehicle V or to cartographic information and / or navigation instructions (for example provided by an on-board navigation aid device (temporarily or permanently) in the vehicle ), or weather information, or clock, or radio. Also for example, the functionalities specifically relating to the driver may relate to the driving and operation of vehicle V (this includes, for example, road maps), at least one driving aid (or assistance), an economical driving guide ( or "eco-coaching"), a command to use a temporarily mobile smart phone (or "smartphone"), a shortcut for steering wheel and / or heated seat heating, a shortcut for defrosting the windshield, or a shortcut for adjusting the outside mirror. Also for example, the functions specifically relating to the passenger may relate to entertainment (music, video) or to the co-piloting of vehicle V (including, for example, the information associated with road maps) or to telematics or to research points of interest or even relaxation (by ordering a massage from the passenger seat).

The CA computer is arranged so as to trigger access to the functionality or command which is associated with a thumbnail touched by a finger of the driver or passenger. In addition, this computer CA controls the display on the screen EA of a first home page P1 which contains thumbnails associated with general functions and / or of a second home page P2 which contains associated thumbnails to functionalities which concern the driver and / or a third P3 home page which contains thumbnails associated with functionalities which concern the passenger depending on whether no one has been recognized or whether the driver and / or passenger has ( have been recognized.

In other words, the computer CA is arranged to control the display of a first home page P1 dedicated to general functions and / or a second home page P2 dedicated to the driver and / or a third P3 passenger home page. Thus, the number of thumbnails displayed on the EA screen is significantly reduced, and therefore the driver or passenger can search more easily and quickly, on average, the thumbnail that interests him in the P2 home page or P3 which is dedicated to him and which is displayed for him if he has been recognized. This reduction in the average duration of the thumbnail search makes it less dangerous for the driver since the latter stops observing the environment in front of his vehicle V for a shorter duration.

In the example illustrated without limitation in FIG. 1, the computer CA is fixedly installed in a housing of the display device DA to which the screen EA is also secured. But it could be installed in another place, remote from the EA screen, as soon as it is coupled to the latter (EA) to transmit display commands to it.

It will be noted that, according to its arrangement and / or the arrangement of the passenger compartment H of the vehicle V, the computer CA can recognize the driver or the passenger in at least one way which is chosen from a predefined action on the screen EA, a visual identification by a camera which is located in the front part PA of the passenger compartment H, and an identification of an identifier of communication equipment previously recorded.

For example, the predefined action on the EA screen can be a single substantially horizontal sliding of a driver's finger over a few centimeters and in a first direction (for example from left to right in the case of driving with left), or else two successive substantially horizontal swipes of a passenger's finger over a few centimeters and in a second direction opposite to the first direction (for example from right to left in the case of driving on the left).

Also for example, the camera can be attached to the upper face of the PB dashboard or to the windshield or to the interior central mirror, and be responsible for observing the driver and front passenger, possibly for other applications such as detection of loss of alertness or presence detection. In this case, the visual identification of the driver can, for example, be done by detecting his presence in the driver's seat (here located on the left), and the visual identification of the passenger can, for example, be done by the detection of its presence on the passenger seat (here on the right). The CA computer is then informed of each person detected by the camera, which allows him to recognize the driver or the passenger as such.

Also for example, the vehicle V can be equipped with a detection device responsible for detecting the presence of at least one communication equipment temporarily present in the passenger compartment H. Such communication equipment can, for example, be a telephone smart mobile (or “smartphone”) or a communicating electronic tablet. This detection requires that the identifier of the communication equipment has been previously registered, for example during a pairing phase controlled by the person using it, via the EA screen. This identifier can, for example, be recorded in correspondence with the status of the person who uses the corresponding communication equipment, namely driver or passenger. In this case, the CA computer is informed of each identifier detected or of the fact that it is the driver or passenger who has been detected, which allows it to recognize it as such.

It will also be noted that the computer CA can possibly be arranged so as to allow a user who is the usual driver of the vehicle V to reconfigure the second home page P2, in relation to its initial configuration (factory), depending his personal needs and / or habits. Likewise, the computer CA can possibly be arranged so as to allow a user who is the usual passenger of vehicle V to reconfigure the third home page P3, with respect to its initial configuration (factory), as a function of his personal needs and / or habits.

In this case, in the absence of prior reconfiguration, the second P2 home page may, for example, include thumbnails which are associated with functionalities relating to the driving and operation of vehicle V, as described above. Similarly, in the absence of prior reconfiguration, the third home page P3 may, for example, include thumbnails which are associated with functionalities relating to comfort in vehicle V, entertainment and co-piloting of vehicle V , and telematics, also as described above.

It will also be noted that the CA calculator can possibly be arranged so as to control the selective display on the screen EA of first P1, second P2 and third P3 home pages which are visually distinguishable. This makes it even easier to find a thumbnail.

To this end, each of the first P1, second P2 and third P3 home pages can be visually differentiated from the others by a specific style and / or a specific graphic and / or a specific color and / or a specific naming.

The number of home pages displayed simultaneously on the EA screen may vary depending on the layout of the CA calculator.

Thus, in a first example of arrangement (or embodiment), the computer CA can be arranged so as to control the display of a single home page P1, P2 or P3, depending on whether no one has been recognized or that the driver or passenger has been recognized.

Consequently, in the presence of this first example of arrangement, the computer CA can be arranged so as to control the display on the screen EA only of the first home page P1 following the activation of the contact of the vehicle V. It will also be noted that in the display example illustrated without limitation in FIG. 5, the first home page P1 is placed to the right of the second home page P2. In this second example of arrangement, when neither the driver nor the passenger has been recognized, for example following the activation of the contact of the vehicle V, the computer CA can be arranged so as to control the display on the EA screen only of the first P1 home page.

In a third example of arrangement (or embodiment), the computer CA can be arranged so as to control the display on the screen EA of the second P2 and third P3 home pages when the driver and the passenger have been recognized (substantially simultaneously or successively). An example of display of the second P2 and third P3 home pages is illustrated without limitation in FIG. 7. Note also that in Figures 2 to 7 the thumbnails (or widgets) occupy only a small part of their screen page. But it may be advantageous for them to occupy a larger proportion of their screen page in order to make them as readable as possible. For example, we can consider that in the presence of a single thumbnail, the latter occupies almost all of its screen page, even all.

It will also be noted that in FIG. 1 the processing (or calculation) and control means of the display device DA are very schematically and functionally illustrated by the only computer CA. This CA computer can include at least one digital signal processor (or DSP (Digital Signal Processor)), possibly associated with a random access memory to store instructions for the implementation by this processor of a computer program (or software (or still "software")) or routines to control the display of the EA screen. Furthermore, the processing (or calculation) and control means of the DA display device can comprise a box comprising integrated (or printed) circuits, connected by wired or non-wired connections.
