Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé et à un appareil permettant de mesurer un profil de faisceau émis en sortie d'une fibre à cœurs multiples couplés au hasard. Un appareil comporte une source lumineuse, une unité de mesure et une unité d'analyse. La lumière émise en sortie de la source lumineuse est appliquée à un ou plusieurs mode(s) d'une pluralité de modes spatiaux de la fibre, à une extrémité d'entrée de la fibre. L'unité de mesure mesure une somme de profils d'intensité de composantes individuelles de lumière émises en sortie de modes respectifs de la pluralité de modes spatiaux, en moyennant une composante d'interférence entre la pluralité de modes spatiaux dans un profil de faisceau de lumière combinée émise en sortie de la pluralité de modes spatiaux, à une extrémité de sortie de la fibre. L'unité de calcul calcule un diamètre MFD et/ou une surface Aeff de la fibre sur la base de la somme des profils d'intensité des composantes individuelles de lumière obtenue par l'unité de mesure.
