L'invention consiste en un matelas de couchage constitué tout d'abord d'une structure d'accueil de dimensions extérieures correspondant au standard de literie (90, 120, 140, 160, 180 ou 200cm), cette structure d'accueil est constituée de 2 plaques de mousse/latex ou mousse a mémoire espacées par des entretoises faites du même matériau de sorte de créer des cavitées parrallèlépipédiques débouchantes, perpendiculaires au sens de couchage. Ces cavités permettent l'introduction « d'inserts polyconfort » que l'utilisateur pourra choisir en fonction du confort de matelas recherché (de très moelleux a très ferme), de sa morphologie, de ses habitudes de couchage, etc... Ces inserts sont constitués de matériaux de type mousse (« polyether », « haute résilience », « latex », «viscoélastique ») qui ont des densités et fermeté différentes ; que l'utilisateur pourra sélectionner en fonction du confort qu'il recherche et les acheter indépendemment de la structure d'accueil, directement sur le point de vente. Ces inserts une fois inserés dans la structure d'accueil, confère à celle ci une différenciation de fermeté et donc de portance, des zones du plan de couchage.
