Abstract

The present invention relates to a bundle (100) for lighting a domestic fire, comprising a collection of boards (P) disposed substantially parallel to each other, the bundle (100) being surrounded by a band (B) to maintain cohesion of the bundle, boards (P) of a relatively short length (L1) being disposed in the heart of the bundle (100), a lock (M) being inserted into the boards (P) of the heart of the bundle. According to the invention, boards (P) of greater length (L2) are arranged around the boards of shorter length (L1), so as to delimit between two neighboring boards (P) of greater length (L2), at least one passage (G) and which extends between the ends facing the same edge of the boards (P) the shortest (L1) and the ends of the boards (P) the longest (L2). Description

The present invention relates to a bundle for lighting a domestic fire, such as that implemented in a barbecue, in a fireplace.

To light a barbecue, a chimney fire, a known solution is to use a firelighter, such as that shown in CH-A5-689453. It is composed of small wood splinters united in their middle part by a ring made of a combustible material to form a package traversed by a wick, said ring being capable of breaking under the effect of a first level of inflammation to cause a second, more intense level of inflammation. The splinters are impregnated with paraffin to promote their inflammation and increase the calorific value of the firelighter. The impregnation of splinters of wood is necessary to initiate the ignition of splinters of wood and to develop the propagation of fire towards the periphery of the firelighter.

Knowing this state of the art, the applicant has sought to design a firelighter that can ignite perfectly to ignite a domestic fire, using natural wood, that is to say, not impregnated with a petroleum substance. For this purpose, is proposed a bundle for lighting a domestic fire, comprising a collection of boards arranged almost parallel to each other, the bundle being surrounded by a band to maintain the cohesion of the bundle, boards of a relatively long length short being arranged in the heart of the fagot, a wick being inserted into the boards of the heart of the fagot; according to the invention, boards of greater length are arranged around the boards of shorter length, so as to delimit between two neighboring boards of greater length, at least one passage and which extends between the turned ends of a the same edge of the shortest boards and the ends of the longest boards.

Thus, in the vertical position of use of the bundle, with said passage turned downwards and after ignition of the wick, an air flow is then initiated by convection effect between interstices existing between the boards of the heart of the fagot during the burning of these. The inflammation then develops rapidly and extends towards the periphery of the bundle.

According to an additional characteristic of the invention, the length difference between the longer boards and the shorter boards is at least twenty percent.

This construction defines a sufficient air passage in the passage (s) to supply the fire with oxygen.

According to an additional characteristic of the invention, two passages are defined between the longest boards.

In operation, that is to say the bundle disposed amidst materials to ignite, it has an air inlet sufficient to fuel its combustion.

Advantageously, the two passages are arranged substantially opposite.

The bundle can thus rest stably on the free ends of the longer boards.

According to an additional feature of the invention, the constituent wood of the boards is selected from pine, fir, poplar, ash or maple, which provide a regular combustion.

According to an additional feature of the invention, the wick is made of cotton.

In an alternative embodiment, the wick consists of a hollow tube made of a flammable material.

The hollow tube forms a chimney that brings oxygen into the heart of the bundle during its combustion.

According to an additional feature of the invention, at least one board of greater length and which exceeds the side of the boards of shorter length, exceeds in length the other boards of great length.

It is thus possible to arrange the bundle in an inclined manner on a flat surface. In operation, the bundle is mostly layered on the same edge after breaking its band under the effect of heat. The embers of the bundle remain concentrated to better ignite the surrounding combustible materials.

According to an additional feature of the invention, the two main faces of the boards are not flat.

Interstices remain between the boards that overlap to promote the circulation of air between them and thus improve their combustion.

The bundle 100 shown in FIG. 1 is intended to allow the ignition of a domestic fire, such as that of a barbecue, a fireplace.

The bundle 100 is composed of a plurality of boards P disposed substantially parallel to each other so as to form, by a collated positioning of said boards around a fictitious axis, substantially a small bundle, as shown in this FIG. 1.

Each board has overall and in front view a virtually rectangular geometry. P boards are made of wood, preferably from cutting waste. The preferred species are selected from pine, fir, poplar, ash or maple for the quality of their combustion, considered regular.

In Figs. 1 and 2, there are two lengths L1 and L2 of boards in the construction of the bundle 100. The shortest L1 are arranged in the center thereof while the longest L2 are arranged around the shorter boards L1.

In the invention and in FIG. 2, the boards P of greater length L2 clearly exceed the ends of the boards P of shorter length L1.

Globally the ends of the boards of the same category are aligned as far as possible.

In Figs. 1 to 3, the longest boards L2 are arranged at the periphery of the bundle 100. It will be noted that boards of the shortest category L1 can also be arranged around boards of the longest category L2 and without departing from the frame of the invention. In the remainder of this description, it will be considered that the longest boards are arranged at the periphery of the bundle.

Preferably, the boards P of greater length L2 protrude from one edge the boards P of shorter length L1, as is clear from FIG. 2. The length of the shortest boards L1 is of the order of 12 cm. The length of the longest boards L2 is of the order of 18 cm. In this regard, the order of magnitude of the bundle is as follows: its average diameter is between 6 and 10 centimeters with a preferred value of almost 8 centimeters. Its length is between 15 and 20 centimeters with a preferential value of practically 18 centimeters.

In an alternative embodiment, not shown, the boards of greater length clearly exceed the two ends of the boards of shorter length.

Furthermore, at the periphery of the bundle 100, not only long boards L2 but also at least one short board P L1 or no peripheral board are found. This characteristic makes it possible to create a passage G towards the interior of the bundle 100 when it rests almost vertically or slightly inclined, on a quasi-horizontal surface, by its long boards P L2, as appears in FIG. 2. Said passage thus extends between two neighboring long boards L2 and between the ends turned on the same side of the short boards L1 and long boards L2. It is used to supply air to the heart of the bundle 100 to supply its oxygen combustion.

Two passages G preferably arranged diametrically opposite appear in FIG. 1, allowing the bundle 100 to rest by the ends of long boards L2 and between which are defined the two passages G. The presence of two passages that in operation the bundle surrounded by materials to ignite has an air inlet sufficient.

We can decline this structure with three passages delimited between the long boards L2.

The length differential between the longer length boards L2 and the shorter length boards P1 is at least twenty percent in order to define a sufficient air passage in the passages to supply the fire with oxygen.

In Figs. 1 and 2, we note the presence of a fuse M ignition which is inserted at one end between central boards, while its free end appears in the passage G. The wick is preferably made of cotton, inexpensive material and known to allow regular combustion.

To maintain the cohesion of the bundle 100, a band B surrounds the peripheral boards P. The strip B is made of a flammable material and preferably made of cardboard or relatively thick paper, for example Kraft ® paper and whose two overlapping ends are secured, preferably by ultrasonic welding. It can also be made of a composite material such as PLA (polyacetic acid) and whose two overlapping ends are secured, preferably by ultrasonic welding.

The operation of the firelighter fagot 100 of the invention is as follows.

Fagot 100 is placed almost vertically, for example, in the hearth of a barbecue in the middle of blocks of charcoal or in the hearth of a chimney under a pile of logs. The bundle 100 is disposed with its passage G facing downwards. The wick M is ignited. The flame then propagates in the small boards P turned towards the incandescent end of the wick M inserted between said boards. We will advantageously choose a dry wood for the boards located in the heart of the bundle so that the combustion can develop and spread to the periphery of the bundle.

In the invention, and to enhance the inflammation of the boards, the passage G located under the heart of the bundle 100 forms a chimney which by convection effect initiates an air flow between gaps between the boards P of the category la shorter Ll, which fuels the oxygen fire to maintain combustion and develop the inflammation of the bundle 100 to its periphery.

The heat of combustion spreads to the headband, which eventually ignites and gives way, releasing the incandescent planks of the fagot, which spread apart to ignite the charcoal in the barbecue or the logs in the chimney. .

The boards P are "rough" that is to say with a perfectible flatness of their two main faces to create interstices between overlapping boards, to promote the flow of air admitted through the passage G.

The firelighter fagot of the invention is suitable for easily ignite any domestic fire, such as a barbecue, a fireplace.

It is inexpensive to manufacture because using wood waste, for example from the manufacture of crates. It is an ecological product because using natural products when its headband is made of paper or cardboard.

In a first variant embodiment, not shown, the wick is manufactured, not in cotton, but in a hollow tube made of a flammable material and preferably cardboard. The hollow tube is, in this case, made from a rolled cardboard strip and whose two overlapping edges are glued with a potato starch-based glue. The hollow structure of the wick forms a chimney that increases the supply of air in the middle of the bundle to accelerate its inflammation.

In a second embodiment shown in FIG. 3, it is noted that at least one board of the longest category L2 exceeds in length, by its end exceeding the boards of the shortest category L1, the other boards of the longest category L2. It is thus possible to rest on an almost horizontal surface, the bundle 100 on its boards of greater length L2 with an inclination of a few degrees as it appears in this FIG. 3. And as soon as the band B breaks, the bundle goes down immediately to better ignite the surrounding materials and also to prevent the blast following the breaking of the blindfold to open the fagot brutally at the risk of extinguishing it.
