Abstract

Safety device designed to replace the old system (sealing) for securing FAMAS assault rifles. The invention relates to a device that allows to secure visibly a weapon while being reusable and without compromising the operation of said weapon. The device is composed of two parts: the body (1) and the lever (2). The body has the shape of a cartridge case 5.56 mm caliber while being longer, without the shape of the bullet, and the lever has the function of allowing, by its protrusion out of the receiver, to quickly check that the weapon is safe. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to be a security piece for all weapons assault rifle type and in particular the FAMAS.

Description

The present invention relates to a safety device intended to replace the old system (sealing) for securing FAMAS-type assault rifles.

In order to prevent untimely feeding of the weapon, a device blocking the FAMAS cocking lever with a lead and a lead or plastic seal is used. This system has three disadvantages; the first is to hinder the arming in case of danger (tearing of the seal), the second is that it is not very visible from the outside and that it is necessary to be close to the weapon to see that it is actually safe and finally the third is that this device is long enough to put in place and is destroyed with each manipulation of the cocking lever.

The device according to the invention overcomes these three defects. Indeed, more risk of inadvertent blocking of the cocking lever because nothing impedes the latter; the device is visible from a distance and allows the element leader to control all his staff at a glance because the orange lever clear of the chamber and finally it is easy to implement because it is introduced in the weapon as a cartridge and is ejected with a simple movement of armed, so it is reusable.

This device allows the total occupation of the firing chamber and thus prevents impurities from being deposited in the latter in order to avoid any problem when introducing a real cartridge.

It is composed of two parts: the body (1) and the lever (2). The body is in the form of an elongated 5.56 mm cartridge case, without the shape of the bullet, and the lever has the function of allowing, by its protrusion out of the receiver, to quickly check that the weapon is safe.

According to particular embodiments: - The device can be declined in several colors and in different materials, preferably metal. If the plastic is possible, the life of the device will be very reduced because the extractor of the weapon, always striking in the same place, will have a very important abrasive action. - The length of the lever and its location can be adapted according to the weapon in which this device will be used (FAMAS, M4 and derivative, HK G36 ...). For example, the total length of the device will be of the order of 5.5 cm and a diameter of about 0.9 cm at its base. The length of the lever is about 2.2 cm, its shape can be flat or round.

The device according to the invention is particularly intended to be a security piece for all weapons mentioned supra and interests primarily the Defense and other entities entitled to be equipped with this type of weapon.

CLAIMS 1) Safety device intended to replace the old system (sealing) securing FAMAS assault rifles. 2) Characterized in that its upper length (1) to a 5.56 mm cartridge case allows its introduction and extraction from the rifle chamber as a normal ammunition without the lever (2) coming into contact with the receiver . 3) Characterized in that it comprises a lever (2) visible from the outside. 4) Characterized with respect to its reuse without resorting to anything other than the device itself.
