Description
The present invention relates to a cradle of a motor vehicle undercarriage allowing different longitudinal positions of the suspension triangles, as well as a motor vehicle comprising such a cradle. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Certain motor vehicles comprise a front or rear axle equipped with a MacPherson type suspension, comprising on each side a telescopic damper arranged substantially vertically, which guides a wheel hub carrier. The upper end of the damper rod sliding in a body, is attached to the vehicle body, the hub carrier is fixed to the base of this body. The pseudo MacPherson type suspension comprises a lower suspension triangle comprising two joints aligned in the longitudinal direction, which are fixed on the cradle, and a lower ball joint fixed on one end of this triangle turned towards the outside of the vehicle, which supports the base of the hub carrier. A variant of this type of suspension, presented in particular by US-A-4948160, comprises a yoke attached to the base of the body of the damper, comprising two parallel arms arranged in a transverse plane of the vehicle, which enclose a plate forming the upper part of the hub carrier, in order to make a rigid connection. Two screws offset in height pass through both the parallel arms and the plate of the hub carrier, to tighten all. The holes of the parallel arms receiving one of the screws, have an oblong shape in the transverse direction, allowing a small movement of the screw ensuring different inclinations of the hub carrier relative to the axis of the damper. This produces a variation of the inclination of the wheel giving a camber angle adjustment.
However, for certain types of vehicles comprising several variants made from the same suspension, one can seek to obtain different positions of the wheels in the longitudinal direction.
In particular to use front wheels of larger diameter or width, it may be necessary to advance the axis of these wheels to avoid interference of their rear contours with the vehicle body.
In this case, a known solution consists in producing several models of front cradles comprising different longitudinal positions of the fastenings of the lower suspension triangles, or of triangles comprising different geometries, or of hub carriers each comprising a longitudinal positioning of the wheel axle. adapted.
However, these solutions require the creation of different parts that lead to problems in manufacturing and inventory management and supplies of these variants, which adds complexity and increases costs. The present invention is intended to avoid these disadvantages of the prior art. It proposes for this purpose a cradle of a motor vehicle running gear comprising on each side a suspension triangle fixed by two articulations, a first articulation forming a clevis mounting having an axis disposed longitudinally in the vehicle, comprising a subassembly having an outer sleeve containing an elastic member receiving at its center an axis drilled in the length, characterized in that the first hinge comprises several possibilities of mounting the subassembly in the suspension triangle each giving an axial position different from the axis central to this triangle, the second articulation comprising a free longitudinal positioning means of this articulation on the cradle. An advantage of this cradle is that in a simple manner, with a single first hinge and without modifying this cradle or the suspension arms, by adapting only the assembly of this hinge one obtains several possible longitudinal positions of the suspension arms, and therefore wheels of this vehicle train.
Moreover, with the second articulation comprising free longitudinal positioning means, this positioning automatically adapts to that imposed by the first articulation, without particular intervention and without risk of error. There is then no variant part to produce, the same components are still used, which represents an economical solution. The undercarriage cradle according to the invention may further comprise one or more of the following features, which may be combined with each other.
In particular, the central axis may have ends protruding axially differently than each side of the outer sleeve. According to one embodiment, the ends of the sleeve are axially fitted on the ends of the housing of the suspension triangle receiving the outer sleeve.
According to another embodiment, the ends of the sleeve are axially offset from the ends of the suspension wishbone housing receiving this outer sleeve. The different possible axial positions of the central axis advantageously give a total longitudinal positioning gap of the suspension triangle of up to about 7 mm. Advantageously, the second articulation comprises a clevis mounting having an axis disposed in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. Advantageously, the second articulation comprises an oblong bore 25 having a main axis disposed in the longitudinal direction, receiving a clamping screw of the yoke. In this case, the oblong hole may be made in the length of an axis fixed in the center of an elastomer filling a second sleeve. Advantageously, the second bushing then has a non-circular contour imposing the mounting in the suspension triangle, a particular orientation of the oblong drilling of its central axis.
The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a drive train equipped with a cradle receiving suspension triangles, which comprises any of the preceding features. The invention will be better understood and other features and advantages will emerge more clearly on reading the following description given by way of example, with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a view of a motor vehicle front axle comprising a pseudo MacPherson type suspension equipped with lower suspension triangles for a cradle according to the prior art; - Figure 2 is a top view of two suspension triangles for a cradle according to the invention presented in opposition, comprising two opposite longitudinal positioning; and FIG. 3 is a front view of a subassembly of the first articulation of these triangles, presented in two possible mounting positions. Figure 1 shows a vehicle front train having on each side a damper 2 comprising a cylindrical body whose base is fixed to a hub carrier 4, the upper part being surrounded by a not shown suspension spring. The upper end of the rod 6 sliding 20 in this damper 2, is attached to the vehicle body 8. The front side of the vehicle is indicated by the arrow denoted "AV". The hub carrier 4 supporting a brake disk 28 and a wheel of the vehicle 26, has its base fixed by a ball 10 at one end of a lower suspension triangle 12, facing the outside of the vehicle. The inner side of the suspension triangle 12 is connected to a front cradle of the vehicle 16 by a first front articulation and a second rear articulation 14, these two articulations being aligned along a substantially longitudinal axis to allow the triangle to pivot about this axis. . For the rear articulation 14, the cradle 16 comprises two parallel horizontal plates 30 coming from each side of this articulation, which is mounted as a yoke between these two sheets.
A steering box 20 fixed on the cradle 16, causes two lateral links 22 pivoting the hub carrier 4 about a substantially vertical axis, to achieve the direction of the vehicle. On each side of the vehicle, a wheel shaft 24 has its inner side driven by the power train, and its outer side connected to the hub of the wheel 26 to transmit torque from the engine. FIG. 2 shows two suspension triangles 12 provided for each side of the vehicle, each comprising a first front articulation 40, a second rear articulation 14, and an outer end 42 receiving the lower suspension joint 10. In this example the suspension triangle 12 is made of pressed sheet. Alternatively it can be achieved by any other method, including a forged steel or aluminum alloy, steel sheets stamped and welded together, or a foundry of aluminum, cast iron or steel. The cradle 16 comprises two parallel plates 50 arranged vertically in a transverse plane, which frame the front articulation 40 for a clevis mounting between these sheets. The front articulation 40 detailed in FIG. 3 comprises a circular cylindrical external sleeve 60 containing an elastomer, receiving a horizontal central axis 62 which is pierced in the length. Both ends of the central axis 62 protrude on each side of the outer sleeve 60, with an unequal distance comprising a difference D. A horizontal screw passing through the two plates 50 of the front cradle 16 and the central pierced axis 62, allows tighten this axis between these sheets to fix it rigidly to the cradle. The subassembly formed by the outer sleeve 60 containing its central axis 62 can be arranged indifferently in one direction or the other in the suspension triangle 12, so as to obtain by axially adjusting this sleeve always in the same way relative to to the triangle, an additional length D of the drilled axis which protrudes to the left as shown at the top of Figure 3, or to the right as shown at the bottom of this figure after a reversal of the subassembly. Thus, as shown in FIG. 2, on the left side there is obtained a suspension triangle 12 shifted rearward along a distance D if the additional length of the central axis 62 is turned forwards, or on the right side shifted towards the front if this extra length is facing backwards. Note that the outer sleeve 60 is always adjusted in the same way on the suspension triangle 12, it is easy to provide a mounting tool of the front articulation 40 having the same positioning dimensions of this sleeve. In particular the outer sleeve 60 may have the same length as the bore of the suspension triangle 12 receiving it, which facilitates the fitting of this sleeve and its axial adjustment.
With this type of assembly, only two longitudinal positions of the suspension triangle 12 are obtained, depending on the mounting direction of the subassembly. Alternatively the ends of the outer sleeve 60 may be axially offset from those of the bore of the suspension triangle 12 receiving it. In particular, it is possible to provide different axial positioning dimensions of the outer bushing 60 in its bore, in order to obtain several positions of the central axis 62 giving various longitudinal positions of the suspension triangle 12, with a mounting tool giving in each case this particular rating.
This gives an axial positioning number of the central axis 62, which is not limited. For the rear articulation 14, the suspension triangle 12 has a cylindrical shape with a vertical axis, comprising an oval contour having a longitudinal main axis, receiving in a tight manner a second outer sleeve 44 having a similar oval contour, containing a Elastomer 46. A vertical axis 48 fixed at the center of this elastomer 46, comprises in the length an oblong bore whose main axis is disposed in the same longitudinal direction. Note that the oval contour of the second outer sleeve 44 imposes an orientation of this sleeve during its mounting in the suspension triangle 12, which automatically positions the oblong hole of the central axis 48 in the longitudinal direction. In this way an elastomer 46 is obtained whose width between the second outer sleeve 44 and the central axis 48 is substantially constant around the periphery of the hinge 14.
L'articulation se fait par la flexibilité de l'élastomère 46.A vertical screw passing through the two sheets 30 of the front cradle 16 and the central axis 48 makes it possible to clamp this axis between these sheets in order to fix it rigidly to the cradle, with the possibility of free positioning of this hinge in the longitudinal direction by the oblong shape of the drilling of the axis. The articulation is done by the flexibility of the elastomer 46.
In a variant, the oblong bore may be formed on the two horizontal plates of the cradle 30, the drilling of the central axis 48 being circular. In the same way we obtain a free longitudinal positioning of the clamping screw in this oblong, following the same assembly process. The mounting of the suspension triangle 12 is as follows.
The suspension triangle 12 is prepared by inserting the outer sleeve 60 of the front articulation 40 in one direction or the other depending on the type of vehicle to be assembled, or by adjusting the axial positioning of this sleeve in a particular dimension. The outer sleeve 44 of the rear articulation 14 is inserted in an always identical manner.
The suspension triangle 12 is then slid into the plates 30, 50 of the cradle of the front cradle 16, then the clamping screws of each of these yokes, the front articulation 40 imposing the longitudinal positioning of this triangle, and the screw of the rear articulation freely adjusting in the oblong hole of its central axis 48, or sheets of the cradle 30 if it is on these sheets, to the resulting position. There is thus no adjustment to be made when assembling suspension triangles 12 on the cradle 16, and therefore no risk of error at that time.
Thus, with the aid of identical components, in particular for the joints, different longitudinal positions of the suspension triangles 12, which can in particular be shifted by a total value of up to about 7 mm, can be easily achieved in order to accept two slightly different wheel diameters.
