Without any transport and storage constraints, the device can be reset at will and allows the operator to act quickly, discreetly and safely. It consists of a housing (6) containing a clock mechanism (5) and a traction mechanism (4) capable of mechanically releasing a piston (2) propelled by a spring (3) in order to actuate a shear ( 7) on an electric cable previously positioned at the bottom of a notch (1). The device according to the invention is particularly intended to secure the intervention of deminers by allowing the remote neutralization of homemade bombs in the context of the fight against terrorism.
Description
The present invention relates to a resettable mechanical cable stopwatch housing for the neutralization of improvised explosive devices. Its triggering is ensured by a timer or by remote traction.
The sectioning of the electric cables of the homemade bombs is generally carried out with pyrotechnic means, in order to ensure their remote neutralization. This requires the application of heavy constraints of implementation and storage and a significant financial cost for a single use. Depending on the nature of these means, their firing has drawbacks ranging from loss of discretion to the creation of shock wave without forgetting the risk of splinters splinters. In some cases they simply can not be used by the place of the intervention (static electricity, radio waves, flammable atmosphere, ...). The time required for their implementation or repackaging is too often an obstacle to the smooth running of this high-risk mission.
To overcome these constraints, some deminers are led to make themselves a rudimentary device but whose reliability is not guaranteed and requires to spend more time in contact with these deadly devices. The device according to the invention makes it possible to mechanically cut an electric cable at a safe distance, in all discretion, without release of heat or projection of splinters and sheltered from the constraints mentioned above. It is set up in a few seconds, requiring no recharge it is immediately reusable after its implementation and it at will. The specific choice of the "all mechanical" also makes it possible to overcome the constraints related to remote commands seeking a source of energy, which guarantees full autonomy. It comprises in fact according to a first feature, a housing containing the entire mechanical device, the arming of the piston and the setting and blocking of the timer of the device are done manually thanks to the appendices present outside the housing. The cable to be cut is then slid into a notch of the housing to be positioned between the jaws of the shear. The user can then choose between two trigger modes: - By delay (main mode); After setting and unlocking the chronometry the operator can freely gain his shelter, at the end of the set time, the piston is released and comes to actuate the shears thus operating the sectioning of the cable. - By remote control (secondary mode); after having immobilized the box thanks to the retaining ring, the operator comes to fix a line of traction on the eyepiece provided for this purpose, it does not unlock the delay and gains its shelter. On his initiative he makes a pull on the line. This action directly releases the piston which actuates the shear thus operating the sectioning of the cable. In both cases the device can immediately be reset to cut another electrical cable without any maintenance operation. According to the particular embodiments: The box may contain all the mechanical elements, all the controls are located on the outer face of the case, they are levers and buttons. 15 - The timekeeping device can allow a delay of between seventeen seconds and six minutes in six-second intervals by turning the knob clockwise (It can be reset manually by turning it counterclockwise). - A stop finger can block and release the pendulum of the chronometric device (first implementation security). 20 - The piston can be armed with the arming finger only if the timer has already been set (second security implementation). It slides in a lubricated guide tube and is actuated by compression of a motor spring. - The shears can have a fixed part on the housing and another mobile which is at the end of the piston stroke. Rotating movement of the movable part ensures, thanks to the kinetic energy of the piston, rapid closure of the shears. - A damper can absorb the remaining kinetic energy of the piston in fm cutting path to preserve the structure of the housing. - A notch in the housing can allow the housing of the cable to be cut between the jaws of the shears once the piston is armed. 30 - A threaded piece (standard format for camera) can be fixed on the underside of the case to allow its installation on a tripod. - Two deployable legs can be attached to the outside of the case to ensure stability it on any type of soil. 3016 74 7 3 - A strap provided with a fastening ring can firmly anchor the case on any surface or fixed point by the addition by the operator of a stake, a strap, a carabiner or an adhesive plate. A cable equipped with an eyelet may emerge through a small embrasure of the housing allowing the link between the remote traction line of the operator and the piston release device. - A set consisting of a lever and a trigger can be contained in the housing and allow the mechanical release of the piston at the end of time delay or during the remote pulling.
The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 represents in section, the device of the invention in the "rest" position. Figure 2 shows in section, the device of the invention in the "armed" position. Figure 3 shows in section, the device when triggered by chronometry.
Figure 5 shows the device of the invention (housing) in the "armed" position. With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a housing (27), which contains in particular the clockwork mechanism (19), which in order to allow the arming of the device must above all be reassembled through the rotation in the direction time of the cocking button (29) present on the outside of the housing and fixed on the axis (17) so as to obtain the desired release delay (between 17 seconds and 6 minutes). This causes the cam (18) to rotate and the support finger (16) of the lever (15) to be maintained in the raised position with the result that the trigger head (8) is advanced into the engaged position. All its actions can be canceled by turning the cocking button (29) counterclockwise until it is at rest. In order to continue the other steps it is advisable to position the stop finger (30) on the letter A (Stop) to block the balance of the clockwork mechanism (19) by means of a fixed flexible steel wire at the end of the axis (24). The stop or running of the clock mechanism (19) can be achieved at any time by the stop finger (30).
The arming of the piston (2) is done by means of the cocking finger (3), which slides in the lubricated guide tube (4) by compressing the motor spring (6) guided by the rod (7). . At the end of the stroke the groove (5) engages with the trigger head (8), the trigger stop (9) then bears against the lever (15) thereby immobilizing the piston (2); the device is armed.
At this moment, the operator can come into contact with the "target" electrical cable to be cut, he slips it into the notch (1) in order to position it between the jaws of the shear (28).
Two options are available to the operator: - If he decides to operate the device by time delay, then he must position the stop finger (30) on the letter M (On). The pendulum of the clock mechanism (19) sets in motion, allowing the operator time to return to his folding station thanks to the timer that he has preset with the cocking button (29). At the end of this delay, the cam (18) terminates its rotation and releases the support finger (16) from the lever (15), with the result that the trigger head (8) is retracted and withdrawn from the groove (5). Under the expansion force of the motor spring (6), the piston (2) slides in the lubricated guide tube (4) and actuates the shear (28) which cuts the "target" electrical cable. The damper (26) absorbs the remaining kinetic energy of the piston (2) fm trajectory to preserve the structure of the housing (27). - If he decides to operate the device by remote pulling, then he leaves the stop finger (30) in the A (Stop) position. He connects the fixing ring (13) to a fixed point and connects a pull line to the eyecup (23) and then returns to his folding station. At the moment that the operator deems the most convenient pull on the pulling line, the cable (20) is stretched and rotates the trigger (12) about the axis (10), with the result that the offset the trigger head (8) thereby forcing the piston (2) to compress the spring (6) a little further until the trigger head (8) comes out of the groove (5). Under the expansion force of the motor spring (6), the piston (2) slides in the lubricated guide tube (4) and actuates the shear 25 (28) which cuts the "target" electrical cable. The damper (26) absorbs the remaining kinetic energy of the piston (2) at the end of the trajectory to preserve the structure of the housing (27). Depending on the nature of the terrain, the operator has the possibility of deploying two tabs (21) fixed on the housing (27) by an axial screw (22) to stabilize the device and on the other hand. use the threaded ring (14) to fix the device on a photo tripod. By way of non-limiting example, the case will have dimensions of the order of 7 cm wide, 5 cm high and 12 cm long for a weight less than 500g. It is designed to cut electrical cables with a diameter of less than or equal to 5 mm and resist splashing of earth and water. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to secure the intervention of deminers by allowing the remote neutralization of homemade bombs in the context of the fight against terrorism. But it is of course conceivable to replace one of the elements described by another equivalent element to address a different problem without departing from the scope of the present invention.
