Abstract
Description
The technical field of the invention is that of devices for extracting a large caliber projectile stuck in a tube of an artillery piece. When a large projectile is placed in an artillery tube, the projectile is held in place by being jammed in the forcing cone of the tube. It may happen that a malfunction of the artillery piece or a cancellation of the firing order causes the need to remove the projectile from the tube to secure the weapon. As taught by the patent RU2256867, it is known for that to employ a hydraulic projectile detaching device. This device comprises a rod penetrating the front of the tube and having at one of its ends a bearing interface on the projectile. The device, integral with the muzzle brake of the weapon, also comprises a hydraulic actuator that can push the rod. Thus, the device exerts a thrust force on the front of the projectile, a force that is capable of loosening the projectile which is then evacuated by the bolt. This device has many disadvantages. It is bulky. It is heavy to handle, it requires considerable energy (decoupling force greater than 106 Newton) but above all it is dangerous. Indeed the projectile is, during operations, confined between the tube and the device. In the event of a projectile explosion or firing of the propellant blocks, the projectile could not be expelled through the front of the tube, which would result in the explosion of the weapon, the destruction of the part and serious damage. for staff located nearby. The invention aims to provide a projectile extraction device which does not present such risks during its implementation.
Thus the invention relates to a device for extracting a large projectile stuck in a tube of an artillery piece, characterized in that it comprises a release mass of a diameter less than the caliber of the tube, mass which is intended to be introduced into the tube at the mouth of the latter, then to be released into the tube to impact the blocked projectile by inertia, mass which is integral with one end of a rope itself securable in the vicinity of its other end with a release device, the release device comprising a locking and unlocking means of the rope which is actuated by a control means. According to a characteristic of the invention, the control means comprises a delay means which ensures the release control at the end of a predetermined delay. Advantageously, the delay of the delay means is programmable. Advantageously, the release device is intended to be fixed to the artillery piece by means of a lockable support 20. According to a feature of the invention, the locking and unlocking means comprises an actuator comprising a movable rod head blocking the rope against a guide means of the rope. Advantageously, the actuator is pneumatic. Thus the invention also relates to a method of extracting a large caliber projectile stuck in a tube of an artillery piece, characterized in that
The tube of the part is lowered to a zero site, a mass connected to a rope is introduced into the tube, the mass being able to slide in the tube, the tube is raised up to its maximum site maintaining the mass at the mouth of the tube through the tension of the rope, - the end of the rope is blocked with a release device which comprises a means of locking and unlocking the rope which is actuated by a control means, - the control means is activated to cause the unlocking of the rope and the release of the mass. Advantageously, during the activation of the control means, a delay means is provided which ensures the unlocking of the string at the end of a predetermined delay. According to one characteristic of the invention, the release device and the artillery piece are secured before positioning the mass in the tube. The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, description made with reference to the accompanying drawings, drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows a schematic view of the extraction device, in place on an artillery piece, and before release. Figure 2 shows a three-quarter left view of the release device. Figure 3 shows a three-quarter view of the delivery device. Figure 4 shows a longitudinal sectional view of the guide means and a side view of the locking means. Figure 5 shows a schematic view of the extraction device, in place on an artillery piece, and during the release.
FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the invention in which a large caliber piece of artillery 100 (caliber between 75 and 155 mm) is placed in battery with its tube inclined at a high elevation angle at 45 °). A projectile 10 is jammed at the forcing cone (not shown cone) of the tube 20 of the weapon. An extraction device 1 is put in place to extract the projectile 10. This device comprises: a release device 4, which is for example secured to a bumper 30 of the artillery piece 100, a release mass 2 of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the tube 20 and which is introduced into the tube 20 through its mouth 40, - a rope 3 which is secured by one end of the unlocking mass 2 and by its other end of the release device 4. The rope has on the last meter of its free end a particularly flashy color 20 (fluorescent orange for example). According to FIGS. 2 and 3, the release device 4 comprises a lockable support 5. This support 5 comprises a gripper whose upper jaws 5a and 5b engage with the bumper 30 of the artillery part 25 (FIG. see Figures 1 and 5). A lever 5c is used to apply the upper jaw 5a against the bumper and to lock by bracing the support 5 on the bumper. Other modes and securing means are possible (bolting, embedding ...). It is also conceivable to secure the release device 4 at other points of the workpiece 100 or simply to put it on the ground. The release device 4 comprises a guide means 6 of the rope 3 (rope not visible in Figures 2 and 3), means formed by a cylindrical tube. The rope penetrates into this guide means 6 and is kept jammed by a locking means 7. According to one embodiment, the locking means 7 is pneumatic and comprises a double-acting actuator 8.
The actuator 8 comprises at least one movable rod (not visible) whose head 9 makes it possible to jam the rope 3 in the guide means 6 which has a lateral opening 12 to allow the head 9 of the rod to pass through. This blocking means 7 is more particularly visible in FIG. 4. The blocking means 7 is controlled by locking or unlocking by a control means 10 that can be activated by a button 11. The control means 10 comprises a delay means (not visible on the drawing) an adjustable delay between 30 seconds and 5 minutes. This delay 15 makes it possible to delay, for a desired period of time, the withdrawal of the rod head and thus to delay the unhooking and the release of the rope. According to this embodiment the supply of the release device 4 is pneumatic. This energy can be provided by an independent pneumatic group or by the pneumatic means of the part 100. A purely mechanical, electromechanical or hydraulic device is also possible. According to another embodiment, the control means could also be deported from the piece 100. FIG. 4 shows in more detail the locking means 7. The guiding means 6 comprises a tube 6 allowing the rope to slide (rope not shown). The locking means 7 comprises a rod head 9 penetrating through the opening 12 in the guide means 6. The rod head 9 has an ovoid-shaped portion 9a. The rod head 9 is shown in the extended position. The cross section AA of the ovoid shape 9a corresponds with the internal curvature of the tube 6 to allow effective jamming of the rope between the inside of the tube 6 and the head 9 of rod. The ovoid shape of the stem head 9 has a longitudinal curvature C not having a sharp angle to facilitate the sliding of the rope during its introduction into the tube as at its removal.
The extraction method implementing such a device is as follows: According to FIG. 1 an operator has fixed the release device 4 on the workpiece 100 and placed the mass 2 in the tube 20 in the vicinity of the mouth 40. To facilitate the establishment of the mass 2 in the tube 20 it has been lowered, prior to the phase shown, to a zero site (horizontal site) or at least to a height that can allow the operator to position the mass 2 in the tube (operator not shown). After introducing the mass 2 into the tube 20, the tube 2 was raised to the highest site (between 45 and 75 °) while the loading operator held the rope 3 tight to retain the mass 2 to 1. The free end of the rope 3 is then introduced into the release device 4 at the guide means 6. The head 9 of the actuator rod being disengaged from the guide means 6, the Rope slides freely in this guiding means 6. The operator then schedules the release delay, then presses the button of the control means. The head 9 of the rod of the actuator is then released, it enters the guide means 6 and blocks the rope by jamming against the inside of the guide means. From this moment the mass 2 is held in position near the mouth of the tube 20 by the release device 4. The operator can then go to safety.
The delay means 15 operates a countdown of the programmed delay. At the end of this period, the control means 10 causes the rope 3 to be unblocked by retracting the head 9 of the rod of the actuator 8.
Retraction of the stem head 9 causes the release of the rope 3. Figure 5 shows this phase of operation. By gravity, the mass 2 (weighing 20 to 50 kg depending on the caliber of the projectiles) slides along the tube 20 to hit the projectile 10. The shock then causes the detachment of the projectile 10 which slides out of the tube from below. After the expiration of the programmed delay, the operator will be able to observe from his cover if the rope has actually been dropped. To facilitate this observation, the free end of the rope may receive a particularly showy color. The observer can easily see if it hangs at the end of the tube 20 which will indicate the proper release of the mass 2. The complete operation can be repeated several times if necessary.
It is noted that the invention is safe because it allows the staff to be safe during the actual unlocking operation. In addition, in the event of a stroke, the mass will be ejected by the projectile through the tube without causing major damage to the part or its direct environment. This is ensured because the mass is mounted slippery in the tube and thus does not ensure containment of the projectile. The absence of a remote control brings additional reliability and security by avoiding the risk of spurious controls.
