Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a motor vehicle seat. It relates in particular to a seat with a backrest comprising a plastic shell. It is known to replace the foam of a motor vehicle seat back by a plastic shell, so as to achieve a less expensive seat, lighter weight and finer appearance. Attachment of the shell to the backrest frame must meet requirements of comfort and resistance to testing, including crash and whiplash tests. To attach the shell to the backrest frame, it is known, as described for example in EP 2 325 040, to use a mechanical connection blocking the depression of the hull. An example of such a seat 1 is illustrated in Figure 1. A backrest frame 2 is connected to a plastic shell 3 for supporting the passenger's back. A mechanical connection 4 of the ball joint type connects on each side of the backrest 1 the shell 3 to the frame 2. This too rigid fixing of the shell 3 causes insufficient clearance of the shell 3 and thus limits the depression of the passenger in the seat in case of shock. In addition, this type of attachment involves increased space and fastening elements to the seat structure. The present invention aims to remedy these disadvantages. The invention thus relates to a motor vehicle seat, comprising a seat back frame and a shell for supporting the back in operational configuration. In the seat according to the invention, the shell is connected to the frame by means of at least one flexible connecting element disposed on each side of the seat, said connecting element being bent in the operational configuration of the shell, to form a non-rigid elastic connection between the shell and the frame. Thus, the elastic connection between the shell and the frame allows a displacement of the shell by bending, buckling or reversal of the connecting element.
The seat may comprise a plurality of connecting elements each comprising one or more blades arranged in pairs along the height of the seat. Each connecting element may comprise at least two blades 5 interconnected by a damping means. Each connecting element may be made of a deformable material selected from metals, composite materials, and plastics. The curvature of the shell and the curvature of each connecting element may be in opposition, for example of the concave / convex type. The ends of each connecting element may be arranged in a cut-out of the seat back frame. The ends of each connecting element can be locked by a local stamping of the seat back frame. The ends of each link member may include a hook member at a border of the seat back frame. The ends of each connecting element may comprise a fixing pin adapted to be inserted into an opening of the seat back frame. Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the following description given by way of illustrative and nonlimiting example and with reference to the appended drawings in which: FIG. 1, already described, is a view in horizontal section of a seat back of the state of the art, - Figures 2 and 3 are views in horizontal section of a seat back according to the invention, and - Figures 4 to 7 are detailed views, in horizontal section, of a seat back according to the invention. A back of a seat 1 according to the invention, as illustrated in FIG. 2, on which the elements identical to those of FIG. 1 bear the same references, comprises a backrest frame 2 connected to a shell 3 of curved profile. The shell 3 may be plastic and is intended to support the passenger's back.
One or more deformable strips or blades 4 connect the shell 3 to the frame 2 on each side of the backrest 1, ie to the left and to the right of the backrest 1. This elastic connection with a single or multiple blade 4 to block the depression of the plastic shell 3 supporting the back of the occupant can be made of different materials, for example composites, metal or plastic, and in particular in the same material as the shell 3 if it is injected material. Each blade 4 is preferably abutted on the shell 3, thus achieving a spring effect. This flexible connection makes it possible to create a deformable interface having a sufficiently significant stiffness to allow to support the back of the occupant in normal use and to filter the vibrations transmitted by the structure of the seat, while presenting a low stiffness with respect to the efforts seen in collision phase and to maximize the insertion of the occupant in case of rear impact.
This architecture also makes it possible to implement in the seat structure without additional fastening element, thanks to a placement under stress between structural elements of the seat. With respect to a backrest comprising a rigid mechanical connection between the shell and the armature, the backrest according to the invention has the following advantages: it is possible to integrate the connecting element directly into the shell, without elements of additional fixing, - there is no limitation of the horizontal movement of the hull by the fastening system. The deflection is limited only by the interaction of the shell on the frame because even in the case of extreme deformation the blades can turn over, the attachment is no longer in a reachable area because it is located in the corners flanges of the file. The back cover is simplified, there is no obligation to use a plastic cover at the rear, 30 - it is possible to integrate a large amount of connecting elements to distribute the load while along the hull. This makes it possible not to limit vertically the implantation area of the binding on the backrest frame.
Thus, the addition of a dissipator energy allows in addition to the spring effect to create a damping. This produces an elastoplastic deformation, and the vibrations are filtered. For example, a viscous or dry friction damping device or an elastomer may be used. Figures 4 to 7 illustrate different embodiments of the attachment of the connecting element 4 to the seat frame 2.
In a second embodiment, the blade 4 is fixed by locking its end by a local stamping 22 made in the backrest frame 2 (Figure 5).
25In a third embodiment, the end of the blade 4 is fixed by a hooking clip 41 on an edge of the backrest frame 2 (FIG. 6). In a fourth embodiment, the end of the blade 4 is fixed by a fixing pin 42 passing through a hole in the backrest frame 2 (FIG. 7). The fixing pin may be made of a soft material of the attached or overmolded rubber type. All these embodiments have the advantage of providing solutions for locking the blade without adding parts (screws / nuts) and taking advantage of the shape of the seat structure. 25
