Description
The present invention relates to an electrical conduction member comprising an electrically conductive bar and an electrical wire connected thereto. The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing an electric conduction member of this type. Such electrical conduction members are present in electrical equipment, for example present in the electric meters, to form a connecting element capable of driving relatively large currents, such as a measurement shunt. The electrical conduction member thus generally comprises an electrically conductive bar and an electrical wire which is covered with an electrically insulating sheath and which has a stripped end welded to the bar. The stripped end of the wire is flattened during welding and it has become apparent that the stripped end of the wire has insufficient mechanical strength and in particular when the conductive core of the electric wire consists of a plurality of stranded conductors. Indeed, the installation of the conduction member in the electrical equipment and the subsequent maintenance operations require manipulations of the electrical wire subjecting it to repeated bending which may lead to the rupture of the area of the bare end not welded to the bar. An object of the invention is to provide a simple, reliable and inexpensive means for fixing the end of the electric wire to the bar. For this purpose, according to the invention, there is provided an electrical conduction member comprising an electrically conductive bar and an electrical wire which is covered with an electrically insulating sheath and which has a stripped end welded to the bar, characterized in that a one-piece tab with the bar protrudes from one side thereof and that a non-stripped portion of the wire is secured to the tab by a sleeve enclosing the tab and said portion. The stripped end of the wire, which is welded to the bar, and the non-stripped portion of the wire, which is attached to the tab, can not be subjected to repeated bending due to the rigidity of the bar which thus protects said end of the efforts excessive. The area of the wire that can be subjected to repeated bending is then the non-stripped portion of the wire that is not fixed to the tab and that has a cross section that is not thwarted because of the proximity of the weld unlike the cross section of the stripped end. This takes advantage of the strength of the sheath and that provided by the unconverted shape of the cross section of the non-stripped portion of the wire which is not fixed to the leg. The thus made connection of the wire on the bar provides better resistance to bending stresses. Preferably, the sleeve is of a heat-shrinkable material. This embodiment is particularly simple. Advantageously, the tab has a cross section flaring away from the bar. The shape of the tab is opposed to the withdrawal of the sleeve.
Advantageously, the tab extends from a bottom of a notch formed in one side of the bar. The arrangement of the tab in a notch provides protection against the risk of attachment of the tab and the area of the wire immediately adjacent to the tab.
Le fil électrique 10 possède une extrémité dénudée 13 soudée sur le barreau 1.The invention also relates to a method of manufacturing such an electrical conduction member. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description of particular non-limiting embodiments of the invention. Reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an electrical conduction member prior to the introduction of the sleeve; - Figure 2 is a perspective view of the electrical conduction member after the introduction of the sleeve; FIG. 3 is a view from above of the electrical conduction member. With reference to the figures, the electrical conduction member according to the invention comprises an electrically conductive bar generally designated 1 and an electric wire generally designated 10. The electrical conduction member is for example intended to constitute a shunt of measurement in electrical equipment or part of a relay. The bar 1 has a generally parallelepipedic shape in one side of which has been formed a notch 2 having a bottom 3 projecting which extends a tab 4 in one piece with the bar 1. The tab 4 has a cross section s' Flaring away from the bar 8. Viewed from above (Fig. 3), the tab 4 thus has a substantially trapezoidal shape having a small base connecting to the bottom 3 of the notch 2. The large base connects to the other sides trapezius by curved portions. The large base is here formed of a portion in arc-of-circle. The electrical wire 10 comprises a core 11 which consists of a plurality of conductors and which is covered with an electrically insulating sheath 12. The electrical wire 10 has a stripped end 13 welded to the bar 1.
A non-stripped portion 14 of the electrical wire 10 is fixed on the lug 4 by a sleeve 20 enclosing the lug 4 and said portion 14. The sleeve 20 is made of a heat-shrinkable material. Note that due to the curved portions, the tab 4 is devoid of angular or sharp portions that could tear the sleeve 20 by creating stress concentration zones. The electrical conduction member is produced by means of a manufacturing method comprising the steps of: - forming the tab 4 in the bar 1 by cutting, - welding to the bar 1 the stripped end 13 of the electric wire 10, 20 - Put in place the sleeve 20 to fix the non-stripped portion 14 of the electrical wire 10 to the tab 4. The cutting is performed by punching so as to simultaneously form 2 and the tab 4. Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment described but encompasses any variant within the scope of the invention as defined by the claims. In particular, the tab 4 may extend laterally from the bar 1. The tab 4 may extend transversely or longitudinally with respect to the bar. The sleeve 4 may be formed by an adhesive tape surrounding the portion 14 and the tab 4. The electrical wire may have a core of one or more conductors and be fixed to extend transversely or longitudinally with respect to the bar . It is possible to set up the sleeve before welding.
It is possible to break the edges of the tab 4 to prevent a risk of tearing of the sleeve 20.
