The invention relates to electrical cables or wires that may be part of an electrical harness. Here, the term "electrical cable (or wire)" means an assembly consisting of an electrically conductive core, surrounded by an electrically insulating protective sheath, and having an end which is secured to a fixing lug comprising a terminal connection part. followed by a crimped drum. It will be noted that the invention relates more particularly to electric cables (or wires) equipped with a lug whose barrel is of the so-called "closed" type (that is to say which does not have any discontinuity (or cut) according to the general direction of extension of the pod). It is recalled that a closed lug is intended to ensure a seal between the sheath and the core of an electric cable. As known to those skilled in the art, in certain technical fields, such as that of vehicles (possibly automotive type), it is necessary to have a seal between the lug and the protective sheath of certain electric cables. This is particularly the case when an electric cable is installed in a wet area (such as under the bonnet of a vehicle). To obtain this seal, it is possible to place on a portion of the lug and the protective sheath of the electric cable a sealing sheath of heat-shrinkable type, then this sealing sheath is heated so that it shrinks strongly and come close against this part of the lug and the protective sheath. The protective sheath / lug sealing is then provided by a glue film which is initially placed on the inner face of the sealing sheath.
Alas, when the crimped barrel comprises a first portion which is curved and extended by a second portion of the side of the protective sheath, which is particularly the case when it is closed type, it may happen that the sealing sheath thermo-retracted sliding (or translate) towards the protective sheath and therefore no longer ensures its sealing function. This can occur in particular when the increase in ambient temperature causes softening of the glue charged to seal inside the sealing sheath. In this case, the adhesive tends to behave like a kind of lubricant that promotes the sliding of the sealing sheath on the inclined faces of the first rounded portion of the barrel. This lack of tightness can lead to faults in the system concerned, which can in turn lead to immobilization (particularly in the case of a vehicle). The object of the invention is therefore to prevent the sliding of the thermo-retracted sealing sheath of an electric cable of the above-mentioned type (that is to say comprising a lug whose crimped barrel comprises a first part). curved and extended by a second part) which would prevent it from continuing to perform its sealing function. To do this, the invention proposes that at least one of the first and second parts of the crimped barrel comprises at least one protuberance which defines a shoulder oriented towards the terminal connection portion of the terminal and which is adapted to prevent the translation of the terminal. a thermo-shrunk sealing sheath on a portion of its protective sheath and the barrel crimped with its lug. The electrical cable according to the invention may comprise other characteristics that can be taken separately or in combination, and in particular: the barrel crimped with the terminal may be of the so-called "closed" type. But, it could also be of so-called "open" type (that is to say with a cut defining two separate parts which are folded towards each other in order to grip the soul very closely), provided that it comprises a first bulging portion and extended by a second portion in the direction of the protective sheath; - The first part of the crimped barrel may have a cross section whose surface increases and then decreases away from the terminal portion of connection; - The second part of the crimped barrel may have a cross section of substantially constant surface; the protuberance may extend over a fraction of the circumference of a transverse section of the crimped barrel or it may be of annular type; the protuberance can be defined in an intermediate part of the second part of the crimped barrel; the protuberance may extend over a distance, along the general direction of extension of the terminal, which is small relative to the distance over which the second part extends along this same general extension direction. The invention also proposes a vehicle, possibly of automobile type, and comprising at least one electric cable of the type of that presented above. Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge on examining the following detailed description, and the accompanying drawings, in which: FIG. 1 schematically illustrates, in a longitudinal sectional view, a part of a embodiment of an electric cable according to the invention, and - Figure 2 illustrates schematically, in a view from above, the electric cable of Figure 1.
The attached drawings may not only serve to complete the invention, but also contribute to its definition, if any. The object of the invention is to provide a sealed electrical cable (CE), even in the presence of a significant increase in the ambient temperature. In what follows, it is considered, by way of non-limiting example, that the electric cables (CE) are intended to be installed in a vehicle, possibly of automotive type. But, the invention is not limited to this application. It concerns any type of system in which electric cables are used to couple elements or equipment between them, and in particular land, sea (or fluvial) and aeronautical vehicles, buildings, industrial machines, industrial installations and installations. consumer equipment. As is illustrated without limitation in FIG. 1, an electric cable CE, according to the invention, comprises an electrically conductive core AM surrounded by an electrically insulating GP protective sheath, and a heat-shrunk GT sheath. The core AM comprises at least one end which is secured to a terminal CS. The latter (CS) comprises a terminal connection part (or connection pad) PT, provided with a through hole TT to allow the passage of a fixing means, and followed by an FC drum which is crimped and comprises a first portion P1 curved and extended by a second portion P2 towards the GP protective sheath.
As illustrated, the GT sealing sheath is heat-shrunk onto a selected portion of the protective sheath GP and the crimped barrel FC. It will be noted that the core AM may consist of a metal strand (or wire) or of several metal strands (or wires), possibly arranged in a strand.
In what follows, and as illustrated without limitation, it is considered that the crimped barrel FC is closed type. However, the invention also relates to open-type crimped barrels which comprise a first portion P1 curved and extended by a second portion P2 in the direction of the protective sheath GP.
Moreover, in the nonlimiting example illustrated, the first part P1 of the crimped barrel FC has, once it is crimped, a transverse section whose surface increases and then decreases away from the terminal terminal PT of the lug CS (that is, heading towards the GP protective sheath). The term "transverse section" here means a section that is perpendicular to the general direction of extension of the terminal CS (or longitudinal direction) and therefore perpendicular to the plane of the drawing. In addition, the second portion P2 of the crimped barrel FC has here, once the latter crimped, a cross section of substantially constant shape and surface. These shapes are obtained through the crimping tool. It will be noted that they are generally characteristic of a closed set drum. But other forms can be envisaged for these first P1 and second P2 parts of the crimped drum FC, since at least the first portion P1 is curved (or bulged). Indeed, this bulge comprises an inclined face which is oriented towards the protective sheath GP and located in the vicinity of one of the two ends of the GT heat-shrinked sealing sheath and therefore which is likely to promote the sliding of the latter (GT) to this protective sheath GP (that is to say in the general direction of extension of the pod CS).
In order to limit the amplitude of this sliding, the invention proposes that at least one of the first P1 and second P2 parts of the crimped barrel FC comprises at least one protrusion (or three-dimensional relief) PR which defines an EP shoulder oriented towards the terminal portion PT connection of its pod CS and adapted to prevent the translation of the GT heat-shrinked sealing sheath on the selected portion of the protective sheath GP and the crimped drum FC. It will be understood that once the sealing sheath GT is heat-shrunk, it closely matches the contours of the selected portion of the protective sheath GP and the crimped barrel FC and thus the (or) protrusion (s) PR dedicated (s) to his restraint. Therefore, the obstacle that constitutes a protrusion PR generates a projecting deformation of the GT heat-shrinked sealing sheath which allows to block it at this protrusion PR. The transverse section of the protuberance PR (in the plane of the drawing of Figure 1) may have various shapes, and in particular approximately square (with rounded corners) or approximately rectangular (with rounded corners) or approximately triangular (with a rounded apex angle) , since it comprises a face which is oriented towards the terminal PT connection portion of the pod CS and which defines a clean EP shoulder to block the translation of the GT heat-shrinked sealing sheath. The rounded corner generation (s) is preferable because it avoids defining edges that could frictionally drive a localized section of the heat-shrunk GT sealing sheath. Note that in the non-limiting example shown, the crimped barrel FC comprises only one protrusion PR. But, it could include several successive, placed at different levels in the general direction of extension of the pod CS, and possibly offset angularly.
It will also be noted that in the nonlimiting example illustrated in FIG. 2, the protuberance PR extends only over a fraction of the periphery of a transverse section of the crimped barrel FC. But in a variant it could be of the annular type and therefore it could extend over the entire periphery of a cross section of the crimped barrel FC. This annular variant is intended to further strengthen the blocking (or retention) of the heat-shrinked GT sealing sheath. It will also be noted that in the nonlimiting example illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, the protuberance PR is defined in an intermediate portion of the second portion P2 of the crimped barrel FC by means of a crimping tool manufactured for this purpose. This positioning is advantageous because it is located at a place where the stresses on the heat-shrinked GT sealing sheath are the least important. But in variants it could be defined on an end portion of the second portion P2 located in the vicinity of the connection with the first portion P1 or the uncrushed portion of the protective sheath GP, or on the face of the first part P1 which is inclined towards the protective sheath GP. Note also that in the non-limiting example illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the protuberance PR extends over a distance (along the general direction of extension of the pod CS) which is small compared to the distance over which extends the second part P2 according to this same general direction of extension. This small longitudinal extension makes it possible to generate a locally projecting deformation of the heat-shrinked GT sealing sheath, and thus a deformation profile in which the slope inversions are closer together than in the case of extended deformation, which is likely to reinforce the blocking (or the restraint) of the thermo-shrunk GT sealing sheath. The invention is not limited to the embodiments of electric cable and vehicle described above, only by way of example, but it encompasses all the variants that may be considered by those skilled in the art within the scope of the claims below.
